I am just learning to cook Sous Vide and so far I love it. Our meat from steaks to pork chops has all been cooked to perfection. The only downside is you do have to plan ahead as the process does take several hours, but once you have started there is nothing to watch or worry about.

This works so well, it is amazing. Easy to program and delivers consistent temperature. First Roast came out perfect using this method.

A little larger than other units I’ve had but keeps the heat extremely even. Nice interface on top with digital read out. Basically walk you through the steps select the temperature. Select the time hit. Confirm you’re good to go. I have done pork ribs in here that have turned out excellent. Keeping them at 145° for three days and then giving them some additional dry rub and cooking them in the oven. It’s like you got the best most tender ribs out there melt in your mouth fall off the bone.

I've used it five times, so obviously I can't speak about its long-term use. But 2 of my preparations were two rib eye roasts, one of them about 8 lb, and in the second case, I used 2 rib eye roast that totaled about 13 lb. The crowd was thrilled on both occasions. Tonight I am cooking a dozen chicken drumsticks. I couldn't be happier with this purchase, so far.

I discovered sous vide cooking several years ago and have gone through a few cookers in that time. When I saw this KitchenBoss cooker, I really liked the advertised features so I picked it up.It comes with a storage bag which is nice so it doesn't get damaged when not in use. It also has a comprehensive instruction manual and a nice cookbook. What really got my attention is the preprogrammed settings - drop your food in, scroll through the menu until you find what you want, and hit on/off to start. It gives you the option to change the settings if you want to make adjustments, as well as the ability to use it without the automatic settings, although I haven't yet tried anything from scratch. I noticed another reviewer said he was unable to figure out how to use his own settings, which doesn't surprise me because the controls are rather confusing. Even I, who have more than a little experience with sous vide cooking, find the controls overcomplicated. It's not extremely intuitive so you really have to study the manual. There is a "preset" button that I figured was how to get to the automatic preset recipes, but no. The "preset" function gives you the ability to set the cooker to start at a certain time - basically it creates a delay so that it won't start cooking until you want it to. Unfortunately it does not keep your raw food cold until that time so if you delay for too long you risk contamination. You might want to add ice to the water to keep the food in the safe range until cooking starts. I would expect that this would require you to set it to start a little sooner in order to melt the ice and bring the water up to temp. You have to hit the "+" or "-" sign to scroll through the food menu, and for anything that has options (like setting rare - well done) you go through all those options before it takes you to the next food. It seems there could be a way of skipping directly to the food you want to cook instead of going through all these other steps, but if there is, I haven't discovered it yet. As for the automated recipes, some of the included recipes are a little unusual, like King Oysters and Beet Salad, but it has more normal settings for steak and chicken breast. Another thing to note is that this unit does not have Bluetooth or Wi-Fi capability, which is something I would expect in a sous vide in this price range, so this is a little disappointing. There are actually several lower priced machines that include these features. My main concern is that for newbie sous-viders, the complicated operation of this machine might be intimidating and result in a machine that never sees the light of day. It would certainly benefit from a little reconfiguring of the buttons and labels so that it would be make more sense and be more intuitive. All in all, it's a pretty solid machine that's well built, but it will definitely take some practice and tinkering to figure it out. Once you do, however, I'm sure you'll be pleased with your results.
