Replaced my broken thermostats with the same brand and model. Everything hooked up exactly the same and the new unit works perfectly.

Got this to replace an old White-Rogers model #1F78 non-programmable thermostat that started to fail (temperature reading started climbing until it was reading 98F at ambient 72F). This came with a different nameplate but it really is a perfect drop-in replacement, so far it works perfectly. IMHO programmable thermostats are more trouble than they are worth, plus with older houses there can be very confusing and complicated wiring issues. But this one works. As usual, take a picture of the old unit's wires before doing anything, work slowly with good lighting, don't let the old wires fall back into the wall, turn off heater and ac before working (often two different circuits), and really take the time to make sure you get the little wires perfectly situated into the screw-tightened blocks. I installed the thermostats myself. The name on the unit is what almost made me send them back because the description says White Rodgers but the thermostat itself says Emerson. I understand they look exactly the same but the ad should state similar model. Other than that it’s a replacement for the same unit that the came with my home the builder grade model. I had an expensive thermostat that only lasted exactly a year. This I’m sure will not fail me because the original White Rodgers AC thermo lasted 15yrs! I’m pleased with the purchase and the HVAC Tech came to install the new AC condenser and was impressed with my installation of the device said it was installed correctly upon checking. The temp is on point and it works as expected. I’d recommend if your looking for a reasonably price replacement for your current AC thermostat.
