I recently upgraded to the Digital Non-Programmable Thermostat for my home’s single-stage heating and cooling system, and I am thoroughly impressed with its performance. The installation was straightforward, and the user manual provided clear instructions, making the setup process hassle-free.One of the standout features is the large blue LCD display, which is easy to read from a distance. It provides clear visibility of the current temperature , which is a great addition for maintaining a comfortable home environment. The temperature monitor is accurate.Although it is non-programmable, adjusting the settings manually is simple and intuitive. The thermostat responds quickly to changes, ensuring that my home reaches the desired temperature efficiently. It’s perfect for those who prefer a straightforward, no-frills approach to temperature control.Overall, this thermostat is a reliable and user-friendly option for anyone looking to upgrade their home’s heating and cooling system. The combination of its sleek design, ease of use, and accurate monitoring makes it a great value for the price. I highly recommend

This Garystat G701 (Green backlit) model thermostat is hard to beat for 27$ (give or take).Numbers are very large on room temp and large enough on the 'set temp' that you can read from quite a distance and the older with vision issues will love this unit with large text and backlight. Simple to operate as well.Installation is straight forward and manual well written for those with no prior knowledge of hvac. However, the spacing for the wires on the backplate could definitely be larger for easier to manage wire placement but it's fine in the long run.Battery compartment is up top on front and easily accessed (not so for many thermostats).Gas/Electric switch is inside between thermostat and backplate housing/mount - on the back of thermostat - don't forget to check that toggle. Also - you can adjust the temperature calibration of your 'room temp' if it reads high or low (mine read high). You can turn on or off the Compressor Delay (3min), you can turn the humidity display on or off) and so on. Just check manual for how to access these settings. Not much more to say - it's easy to use, easy to read, and works like it should. It's cheap as well - can't comment on duration/reliability but it seems to have a 2 yr warranty I believe so seems reasonable enough.Recommended buy. -- But check dimensions as it might be a little smaller than it looks in photos to you.

I had an old Honeywell programmable thermostat on my InstaFlame gas fireplace that the installer setup when the fireplace was installed. The fireplace has a 750 millivolt ignition system with a two conductor thermostat wire. I use this fireplace to warm the family room and since we have an open floorplan, it also helps with the rest of the house. I got tired of messing around with the scheduling and having a dim small readout. I saw this thermostat while I was browsing around and liked that it had a bright blue background, the numbers were much larger then the old thermostat, and there was no screwing around with time schedules. There are similar rebranded thermostats that are probably made by the same company. The wiring was very simple. All I did was pull the front off the old thermostat and remove the red wire from the RH terminal and the white wire from the W terminal and then removed the old base from the wall. Since I am only using this for a fireplace I removed the jumper between the RH and RC (RH heating and RC cooling) to allow for more room under the incredibly small terminals on the terminal strip. I did struggle a bit to remove the new Garystat cover from the base but with a little patience and gentle prying with a screwdriver the cover came off. I installed the thermostat wires under the new base RH and W terminals and mounted the base to the wall. The Garystat base mounting screw holes fit the old wall anchors perfectly so I didn't have to drill new holes for anchors. I installed two fresh AAA batteries (batteries were not supplied with the new thermostat), set the toggle switch on the back of the cover to the gas position, set the Heat/Off/Cool switch to the Heat postion, and snapped the cover on the base. I didn't mess with the fan switch since my fireplace has a thermal switch on the firebox that controls the fan. I did investigate the calibration, swing and other settings. I decided to not use the humidity display setting and left the others at the default settings. The fireplace came on after I adjusted the setpoint to my desired temperature and when it reached that temperature the fireplace turned off. There is nothing to not like about this thermostat. It is simple to install, simple to initially program, and I love that you can calibrate your room temperature display. I hope it lasts a long time but if it doesn't I will probably buy another one. They are inexpensive and seem to work great. The box had everything you need to install this and, while having small print, the instructions were pretty good for the installation. The example wiring diagrams were pretty useless since my application was not for furnaces, heat pumps, or air conditioners, but a casual inspection of the wiring for the old thermostat convinced me that the Garystat would work. Shipping was quick and the thermostat arrived undamaged.

I bought three of these to replace the high-dollar thermostats that came with this house. The thermostats replaced were very susceptable to external RF interfernce which made them a non-starter for my home. They simply had too many features that were not important to me and thus complicated the setting of the units. So I bought three of these basic thermostats hoping that their near analog arcitecture would eliminate the issues I was having. Long story short, they did just that. They are made for single-stage units and they have a switch on the back to select between all-electric or electric-cool/gas heat set-ups. The mounting holes lined up perfectly with the mounting holes of my old thermostats. You have to choose between heat and cool with the onboard switch (which I wanted). I leave the fan on auto all the time to allow it to function as the units are either cooling or heating. Big, easy to see display. It will flash the inside temp for a few seconds then flash the inside humidity, then back to the temp, etc. etc. The body of the thermostat snaps solidly into the base on the wall. All connections on the back are clearly marked with the standard colors of wire that are used in thermostat installations. The manual is pretty good and shows several wiring scenarios, but normally you will be dealing with 5 colored wires...red, white, blue, yellow, and green. Do a little research beforehand and you can easily learn the function of each of those wires. Be sure you remove about 3/8" of the insulation from the wire before you slide it into the screw terminal that holds the wire in place. I have electric cooling and a gas furnaces and this little simple, inexpensive thermostat is perfect for me and my home units.
