The setup is simple and easy to use. Crimping works well, and the kit even includes a wire cutter, which is a great bonus. Overall, a solid tool for the job! Used for CAT6 and 5E, no problem

Item was as describe, excellent communications during the process, I received the item with a couple of days.UPDATE. After using this item over the weekend, around 20 cable crimps later, the crimps began to fail using the included tester. It appears that pins 5 and 6 are failing to crimp correctly. These eere verified by a workplace cable tester. I cannot recommend this crimper.

Although it started ok, the crimping device for RJ45 terminals stopped working after only attempting a few terminals and could not push the cables far enough to pierce the insulation. The tester is great.

The crimping tool was straightforward once I understood how it worked. The pass-through design is excellent, as I found that if I took a cable and cut back about 0.75"-1", I could untwist the 23 GA wires and get everything straight. That's the part that takes the longest. Once each wire is straightened, you should be able to slide the wire into the plug and go through the end. Then, I cut back just enough so that only a small portion sticks out from the crimp tool. Grip the handle hard a few times, and it's done. I used the blue sleeve provided to lessen the stress on the cable. When you open the box, it's also set for the CAT 7 so if you're working with CAT 5/6, move the plate so the small Phillips screw is sitting across from the CAT 5/6 label. After I accidentally crimped on the CAT 7, I only discovered that it worked with the tester until some didn't test correctly. The CAT 5/6 plate needs to be crimped deeper, so that solved the issue. There's an orange cable sleeve cutter that works amazingly well. I used the first tab for the CAT 6 cable, and you only need to rotate it twice for a clean cut without cutting into the foil and the wires. Don't do 3-4 times as it will damage the wires I found out.The manual is straightforward, and I made all the cables with the modern 568B pattern, with the dashed orange on the very left and the pins facing you (tab on the bottom). Using a 500' roll of cable and what felt like hours, everything came up on the DVR with a screen, and I could finish the installation.Side note: If you use this for security cameras, use the shielded (blue or silver foil) twisted cable. I used the shielded and twisted 23 GA cable. Otherwise, you could get low-grade quality images if there is no interference, which may look like there's something wrong with the system. If you're new to making cables, it's not complicated. You must be patient; there's no fast way to make these cables.
