Used with heavy vinyl over insulation to soundproof what had been a doorway between rooms. Had no trouble putting drywall over the racks, which are easy to use. Then used green soundproofing sealant on the drywall. Definitely blocked the sound.

An essential complement for nailing mass-loaded vinyl. Such vinyl tears easily with any cut or penetration. These nails prevent heavy vinyl from tearing away from a wall by it own weight. Recommend as essential to working with and nailing mass-loaded vinyl to studs and walls.

Nothing special, basic cap nails as being used in the construction trades for quite some time now.

My previous sound abatement projects used special drywall, green glue, mineral wool, and various types of acoustic panels. MLV was a new material for me, which inevitably led to me finding out the correct fasteners to use with it - that's where the UberQuiet MLV Cap Nails (1-inch, 250 pcs) came in. While I must admit that $18 (with $2 off coupon, at the time of this review) felt pretty expensive for nails, it's not like MLV is a cheap material in the first place. Plus, in the universe of airtight j-boxes and MLV, these cap nails are likely to be the least expensive part of the puzzle. In use, the cap nails take care of the issues that I was worried about with MLV as a construction material. MLV is heavy, so I was concerned about distributing the forces at the fasteners, and not having sag impact the integrity of the material over time. These cap nails work great, but you will use a ton of them (about every 6-8", per joist). They weren't visible through 5/8" drywall. Recommended
