Looking at the reviews, it seems this item is being used for myriad purposes. While this Thurso Dry "Bag" is depicted as a fanny pack, and could definitely be used that way, it is a bit big and stiff (boxy) for that use as compared to most fanny packs. While virtually all true dry bags are made of very stiff rubbery "fabric" many have more traditional seams, and fold or pack flat when empty. This one is more like a box. It zips open along the long side. But, open or closed it retains it's boxy dimensions if left to stand empty in any orientation. I mention this as this is a bit different. The item is very well made and designed. It includes permanently attached straps to allow attachment to supports or loops mounted horizontally or vertically. It also had a handle sewn in for carrying in the horizontal orientation, though this handle is on the back, not top edge. So, the bag will not be balanced if carried this way. It includes a nice wide loose accessory strap which can serve as a waist or shoulder strap. It also includes a tube of silicone grease, like that used to lubricate Scuba O-Rings, which should be applied sparingly to the zipper periodically to make operation more smooth and to decrease wear. That grease is a bit uncommon to find around and is extremely useful as it does not attack rubber and plastics. I apply this from my own supply to my flashlight seals regularly when changing batteries. My intended use for this dry pack is as an emergency "go bag" to store important items I don't want to get wet. This can include documents, electronics and even a pistol. But another really good use for this, considering the size and design, would be for use as a packable toiletries pack for travel, especially by air. If you travel enough and particularly if you don't keep all liquids obsessively in zip lock bags you will eventually suffer a leak of hand cream, shampoo, etc. That is quite "inconvenient" and can make a huge mess. The low pressure in airplanes at altitude tends to exacerbate loose tops, weak seals, etc. Having everything in this bag, in your luggage, will provide another level of security against such a mishap.I like this dry pack. It will definitely prove useful and is reasonably priced for the quality and functionality you are getting. It is more of a soft box, however. So, make sure that design comports well with your intended use. It deserves a solid five stars.

This bag is pretty large at 10 1/2" (W) x 6 3/4" (H). It is larger than I thought but it makes sense since this bag is marketed as being able to store everything you need while near water. The zipper is a little hard to move around when opening or closing the bag. There is some zipper lubricant included. I didn't apply any yet. So, I'm not sure if it helps with the movement of the zipper. There is some resistance when the zipper gets closer to the closed position. Then you have to pull the zipper a little harder to get it all the way closed. If the zipper isn't 100% closed then there will be a hole where all of the water can get in.I put this bag under running water and all of the water beads off of the outer material. I dried off the bag with a towel but when I opened the bag I saw some droplets of water inside.I tried to put the bag in my bathtub and it floats. You won't be able to go diving under water like some of the pictures suggest. I dried off the bag with a towel but I didn't see any water on the inside this time. I'm unsure why.I am thinking that this bag is good if you are at the pool, beach, or fishing. I wouldn't plan to go swimming with this bag though since it floats. At the beach, this bag seems like it would do a great job keeping the splashing water and sand off of your belongings. If you do get one of these bags then I would suggest to try to submerse your bag under water with a paper towel inside before trying to take your bag under water.I can recommend this bag being around water (pool, beach, fishing).

I am very impressed with the quality and build of this structured zippered dry bag. All seams are sealed strongly, allowing it to provide excellent protection during usage for water sports or boating, etc.The zipper requires quite a bit of effort to open and close, however this tends to be the case for watertight zippers, and I was pleased to see that a small tube of zipper lubricant was included. (Of note, the tube was just a totally plain white tube with no label, so I printed a label to place on it myself.) Also included is a webbing and plastic belt that can be threaded through the loops on the back. There is also a slimmer carry handle, as well as 4 Velcro straps that will allow the bag to be easily and securely attached to a boat, SUP, or any bag with MOLLE/PALS loops. The bag itself is nice and lightweight, but with a moderate capacity of 3.7L - more than large enough to fit a mobile device, snacks, or even extra clothing items depending on your needs. Very happy with the design and functionality of this bag, and I think the price point is very reasonable for the quality received. I’m quite interested in checking out other items from Thurso Surf as well.

This is a good little zippered dry bag. The zipper is a little stiff but comes with a little tube of lubricant that also keeps it waterproof. The back of the bag has belt loops and velcro straps. It comes with a basic belt to put through the loops or you can use the straps to attach it to your equipment. It is a little boxy, meaning it soft but stiff so it holds its rectangular shape. This feels a little weird but can also be a nice feature. Just know that it won't be laying flat on your waist. Like most dry bags, it is one compartment but there is a little netting on the side to tuck small items for ease of finding later. It is a nice bag for keeping some items dry.
