So I didn't really need a cast iron Dutch oven until I wanted to make some sourdough bread from scratch. Now I own this, banningtons, & have 2 starters going in my fridge. It's a gateway drug. Even my 1st loaf turned out great & they've just gotten better!

I have seen dutch ovens like this one for almost 3 times the price. This is a high quality cast iron with a simple design.I use it most often for baking sourdough bread. If you know anything about SD bread, it needs to have some time to brown. I lift my bread out of the deep side and place it on the shallow lid for the browing. Perfection.Also there is no discoloration of the inside of the pot (unlike some enameled dutch ovens).Follow the directions provided with it on seasoning it. Easy.
