This seams to be a good functioning machine as advertised, sort of.But I find the instructions for use and installation are not clear.First of all they say it's a fan, ac and dehumidifier. But the manual says that the exit pipe should be removed when using dehumidifier mode. This would mean it's a fan, ac, OR dehumidifier not all 3. Not practical since window mounting can be tricky. They don't make it clear if the drain hose is needed in cooling mode, and all the pictures show the unit on nice wooden floors, without a drain connection. But customer feedback says that even in cooling mode, not all water is evaporated, some water collects in the unit and it must be drained, which would make it a must to have a drain hose and a drain. If a drain is always needed, this causes a major problem since it's a portable unit, and advertised for offices, bedrooms, and living area, none of which normally have drains in the floor, but all of them have expensive flooring that must be kept safe. And it's drain hole is almost on the floor, leaving no room for a container. So it would appear that to drain it reliably, the unit should be lifted at least a foot off the floor. And have a hose long enough to reach a drain somewhere, or some kind of pail to manually empty it, regularly. This is all very impractical and could mean expensive floor repairs if it's left unattended.I just purchased this unit and I am not sure that I'm right about all this, but that's what it looks like at the moment.I can't get a strait answer about the drain hose use, it's advertised as not needed, but feed back says it is..As far as I can tell, when in cooling mode you need a permanent drain hose and drain, otherwise the unit will fill and stop, you need to use the fan option manually to evaporate the water every time it fills. How often and how long, will depend on the humidity level of the room and selected cooling temperature.I think. It's been running for 24 hours and it has enough water draining, as to justify using the hose and drain, since the humidity is very high.If I had read the specs and the information would have been clearer, I would have just put a window model in instead, the installation would have been much easier, and the use more predictable. So my conclusion is, if the unit must be drained, the the unit is far from a easy to use safely, and not really portable. After using the unit for 2 days, installed on a level surface, with a drain hose, It's making a high pitched whistling noise like a bird. It's not loud but I annoying. The exhaust pipe is cracking and splitting after only 2 days, and will have to be replaced, it seems that the hose is temporary, the plastic gets brittle really quickly and cracks, worthless.I purchased this unit because of the many good reviews, big mistake.

Ordered on June 27 and was supposed to have 2 day shipping, received this product on June 6 because the shipping (ASL Distribution) held onto my package for 4 days. Amazon did not bother to offer any compensation of a partial refund to despite having 2 day delivery to remedy the delay. As for the product, it is working great. I live in a building that does not provide air conditioning and have been surviving in my apartment with 2 tower fans. The installation took less than 5 minutes for me, and within 20 minutes I noticed a big difference in the room temperature. As for loudness, I don’t find it too loud….it makes noise like every other air conditioner. I can watch tv without the need to have to turn up the volume. Finally, I’ll be able to get proper sleep when it’s hot outside. The product gets 5 stars. Amazon gets 2 stars for their unusual crappy customer service for this order and using a garbage shipping company that left the package in my building lobby to possibly be stolen and not notifying me of the arrival.

I am extremely happy with my purchase of the SLPA8 AC unit from Serene Life. It works well cooling my 10x10 office with a builder grade 60 x 48 inch southeast facing window. Last summer it was unbearable here (Seattle) with temperatures reaching 100 deg F. or more for many days. Since installing the AC unit I am able to instantly cool the office when needed. I find that I do not need to run it all the time, only long enough to be comfortable... usually 15 to 20 minutes at a time providing 1 to 2 hours of comfortable conditions. I seldom use the high setting as low is quite cool. The unit is easy to set up although the supplied pvc window louver is too short for my window. I purchased a 60 x 6 x .5 inch piece of lumber and used my jig saw to cut out the necessary opening and attached the louver to the board. I also purchased pvc half inch pipes to use in the window track and middle of window keeping pressure on the window and eliminating risk of unwanted guests or air gap. Last piece of customization was double sided half inch foam tape between the board and window edge really providing a gap free seal. The unit is rated at 57 db and seems a bit loud but not disruptive. I have a noise canceling speaker and am told others on my Zoom calls cant hear the ac when it is running. It takes up a bit of floor space but its worth the trade off. I have no problem with negative air pressure it just a tad bit more of a pull to open my office door. I have had no problems with the water resivoir filling up nor have I had any issues with power or electricity. I do have it running on a 20 amp circuit which is nearly 3x what is required (8 amp draw when cooling on high setting I believe). The supplied remote is small and easy to use.. not a lot of functions or buttons so it tends to be self explanatory.I am very happy I purchased the SLPAC8 and would do so again.Great experience with fast shipping via Amazon and arrived in the original box and packing materials. One last suggestion, don't wait til the dog days of summer (like I did last year) as most options sell out quick. No way I was making the same mistake this year!Very Satisfied thus far (nearly 21 days run time).

A good all-around unit, light, simple to install and maintain, and it does a stellar job in my 15x15-ft bedroom, I would definitely recommend it. The instruction booklet was not very well written or formatted, they do need to work on this. I was surprised when I received the unit to find it was PYLE USA, a electronics manufacturer that specializes in audio, I've purchased some of their equipment in the past, and it's still running just fine. The remote control is just the way I like it, it runs the basic functions without having to have a PhD in electronics engineering, just the basic buttons but all the ones you need.Recommended.....Update: 7/31/2021I purchased a second unit, now they are the only AC units running in the house. The temperature is 102° outside, and one unit is in the living room, and one is in the back side of the house, which is about 1100 ft². The temperature is a nice 70° in the house, which I did not expect, between the two units there is 16,000 BTU, (actually 15,000 BTU) which from a standpoint of thermal units shouldn't be enough to cool the house, but I'll be darned if it doesn't. Good units, get them while you can. This is an update covering the last two years of use with two of these, today I'm coming back for a third one.I'm not going to butter your bread, you'll get an honest evaluation for me.The two units that I have in a straight performance viewpoint have been nothing short of astounding, these units just run and run and run, both units have been on 24/7 for the last 2 years, obviously you don't need an AC unit in the winter, what we use them as air filters as well, put on fan only the unit does a good job of clearing the air in the room. I bought one for my personal bedroom, I like my own climate control, and I love to sleep in a chilled room with the blankets piled up.The only thing I could legitimately gripe about is the units are a bit noisy, but to me it's almost like a comforting white noise sound, it's not screeching, or making loud mechanical noises, it produces a low frequency hum which is noticeable, but not displeasing.2 years of 100% reliable use, and a cooling capacity that definitely exceeds its rating You're not going to find anything that works as hard and performs as well for under $300My recommendation for this unit is simply this, after 2 years of owning two of these, I'm adding a third.....
