This thing smells so bad. We had it sitting outside for months hoping the smell would go away. And then we realized we should return it but missed the date. Don’t waste your money

I bought this as a temporary safety net for our swing set. It is a lifetime one and my youngest is 2. He almost fell through the ladder to climb up a few times so I wanted some type of safety net and this works perfectly!

I recently bought a De'Longhi portable air conditioner to replace a different brand I'd used for a few years before it finally broke down. The exhaust hose would always get seriously hot while using the air conditioner during the hot summer months, causing extra heat that the machine and I had to cope with. I was aware of these Insulated Hose sleeves that only seemed available from the USA, so I never bothered to buy one. Luckily, they now seem available over here, so I have just fitted one onto the exhaust hose while the original 5" hose was still connected to the machine, as I was worried the lugs on the attachment plate might snap off, and it worked perfectly, of course, it would have been easier to follow the instructions and detach the original hose first, but I was being extra cautious, just in case. In preparation for this year's possible hot summer, I've been testing it out as best I can, using just my hands; the sleeve covered all of the De'Longhi hose as well as part of a short extension I had added, so I can definitely feel a massive difference between the insulated hose, and around 12" inches un-insulated extension hose going to the window. I can't really properly comment about any noise reduction yet, but I think it's improved and slightly lowered the noise; that was not the issue with me, only excessive heat, which is most definitely very much better. It's strong, well made, and rather expensive, but in my opinion, well worth it.

Update: the company reached out to me apologetically and kept their word on an easy refund. For that, I’m appreciative. If you’re considering purchasing one, have no worries that they’ll stand behind their product. The extremely strong odor from the one I got could have been a fluke. The tung oil odor is EXTREMELY STRONG. I couldn’t use this indoors as planned. Their instructions are to “clean it” several times so I put it in the wash at gentle cold cycle and it completely ruined it. They should be more specific on cleaning instructions if that’s how they expect people to remove the smell. And the smell did not dissipate. Since this is not a “slight smell” but a VERY OVERPOWERING ONE, their description is very inaccurate. And their cleaning instructions are very lacking.

This is a very good product , is it too expensive yes. Does it work however , yes amazingly well. The output has no heat.If it makes a difference I'm not sure in the global sense but the heat is gone from the hose so that must help.

It’s a bit hard to get the hose through at first, but once it’s on, the difference in efficiency is noticeable! It’s expensive, yes, but well made and of good quality materials and stitching. Also solves the problem of sunlight warming the room through the vent hose on a west-facing patio door. I’m using it on my LG air conditioner, so not just for Delonghi ACs.

I have never written a review, I felt this product was worth a share. Background ; I work in a technical capacity , Electrical & Mechanical and had low expectations for this product. The Problem with many portable home AC units:The HOT air exhaust is just below the COLD air intake, the exhaust hose on my unit becomes almost too hot to the touch during operation, so the cold air intake is drawing heated air in that it must then cool to make you comfy. Additionally the HOT air exhaust duct going to your window or wall is radiating heat BACK into the room as well just like a heater. AC or Heater, which one is it?Is this good for your portable AC room cooling Efficiency: NO, it increases cost and impacts the ability of the unit to do it's desired function, COOL Your Room with a typical hose found on most. Results, two areas of interest:NOISE:I immediately noticed a reduction in the horrible noise and oscillation from my AC unit , I could not hold a Zoom call in my office it was so distracting with R2D2 ( my ac unit nick name) placed 10 Feet away. After the Sock install I was able to hold a Zoom call with no issues. I did not expect this at all. Noise down at least 30 percent on my unit I would ball park guess. Now that I think about it, all of the vibration / sound was being transmitted through the exhaust duct, and the ribs were vibrating acting like amplifiers also sending noise back into the room along with HEAT. It makes sense in reflection.COOLING:The unit cooled my room but not aggressively without the sock the previous summer, after the sock install the exhaust hose was only slightly warm to the touch, previously almost too hot to hang on too! I live in Desert with 120 deg heat in summer peak, All that heat was being transferred back into the room, like a dog chasing their tail. Wow, I don't know what they are using for insulation? It's thin but VERY effective on my unit. Now the room QUICKLY gets cold, the unit cycles on and off frequently, previously it just ran wide open and almost never cycled. What a difference. Definitely Noticeable and using less energy obviously as well.DOWN SIDE:If you could call it that, The Sock is not easy to install, it may take two people, It certainly did in my case. But this is why it was effective for noise in the end as it grips the hose reducing vibration and heat transmission. My install Approach: ( yours may vary)Remove hose end couplers , collapse hose fully and push the collapsed hose carefully to the center of the sock one person holding the sock one person pushing. Then gently expand one end of the collapsed hose a bit at a time inside the sock, then the other side until the hose is completely expanded, push the sock excess back over the hose to install the couplers (hose ends) or fold over as in my case. Install hose and fold back any excess to cover anything you can with the excess if available. There is no Give to the sock, so patience is key.On that note, the maximum bend radius will be slightly reduced due to the new cover, so if you are using very tight bends beware, 35 deg bend was possible for my install only, rough estimate. Certainly nothing beyond 45 deg seems possible in quick tests I performed.Overall:Astonished with my NEW ac unit, I am now wondering why these are not included on these types of AC from the manufacturer, I am very happy with my decision to take a chance. My experience: Quieter, Cooler, Less energy usage.
