heavy base, fits my larger roll of double sided tape so i can tear off a piece with one hand. works as i expected

Until very recently, I had been surviving without a tape dispenser, not exactly through choice but more because I never actually properly realised I didn't have one! Clearly, having a tape dispenser would mean that I no longer would have to look for the end of the tape every time I wanted to use it, or look for the scissors to cut it with, but these benefits seemed to have been overlooked. I was therefore quite enthusiastic about trying out the (which takes most rolls of 33m tape) and the (which takes most rolls of 33m and 66m tape).From a comparison perspective, this is very similar to the Rapesco 500, in that it accepts both 33m and 66m rolls of tape (the difference being that 33m rolls of tape tend to have a much smaller diameter spindle). This is achieved by including a multi purpose mandrel (spindle holder) which can be adapted, depending on the size of tape you wish to use. Of course, being multi purpose means that this tape dispenser is quite large and so if you only ever envisage using 33m rolls of tape, you may prefer the Rapesco 300 or the , both of which are much more compact.From a product perspective, this dispenser is reasonably heavy however, this, along with it's grippy base, helps to ensure that the dispenser doesn't slide about on the desk when the tape is being dispensed. Of course, the weight reduces the portability of the dispenser but this wasn't a big consideration for me.In summary, I'm very pleased with this dispenser and the only caveat I have is that it will be important to consider whether you need this size of dispenser, or a more compact version (such as the Rapesco 300), which only accepts the smaller, 33m rolls of tape. As an aside, if you buy this dispenser, you'll need to purchase tape separately, as none is included with this product.

We received this tape dispenser just in time for Christmas. Our other dispenser is plastic and works just fine, but the primary benefit to this particular dispenser is its weight. Because this base is quite heavy, it makes one-handed use a simple operation. This means I can keep one hand on the wrapping, holding the fold in place while I pull a strip of tape from the dispenser to hold it down.It also has the bonus feature of working with two different sizes of tape rolls (if the slot and blade were wider it could even work with a roll of packing tape). Since we have rolls of both sizes, this has been a very welcome feature.

The "Scotch Magic Tape C24 Dispenser For 25mmx66m Rolls Ref C-24" is intended mostly for 25mm wide tapes. It uses a single fixed 75mm (3-inch) diameter core and is not therefore intended for use with any 25mm core tape although the packaging states otherwise. It has a solid base with circular non-slip pads that appear to perform very well and is smaller in all dimensions (only by a few mm) and lighter than one previously used but with added stability due to its more effective base unit.The dispenser is less a classic design than a previous reviewer would suggest; it is believed to be original and utilises straight sides and curved ends and is slimmer and lighter than others. Those offered by another brand, essentially 'throw-away cheap' and used for several recent years, are a design classic copied from one much older and almost all gentle curves. Often, they may feature use of dual or convertible cores that suit both groups of tapes.There are two major requirements of such dispensers - that they should cut a variety of tape brands and types with similar ease and be sufficiently stable to not move when the tape is dispensed. Some may be internally weighted with lead, others with sand or concrete but they also need a good non-slip base which this has, moulded to suit rather than cut from a millimetre thick piece of foam that can quickly tear or disintegrate, losing any grip it once had. The cutter blade has sufficiently fine teeth that face forward rather than upwards for an effective cutting action every time; it is so much easier and more reliable to use than was its predecessor.For its price, which could allow the purchase several of the alternative brand, one would expect it to perform highly and it does not disappoint. It is also surprisingly expensive; whether it offers value for money may vary from one user's opinion to that of another. For its improved and certain functionality, it is worth the outlay.
