This stainless steel hot plate heats up quickly and distributes heat evenly, functioning effectively without issues. I utilize it as a larger-diameter alternative to reheat food. However, preparing a large pot of oatmeal on a 1000W hot plate can indeed be time-consuming. It may involve boiling water in a faster electric kettle, transferring it to the oatmeal in a pot, and then reheating it to a boil on the hot plate—a process that still remains slow. For more efficient cooking, especially when dealing with larger pots or batches, upgrading to a hot plate with at least 1500W is advisable. The build quality of this hot plate is subpar. The metal is unusually thin, causing it to cave under pressure and weight. Consequently, I would hesitate to place a large cast iron pot filled with food and a cast iron lid on it, as it may not support the weight. This hot plate is suitable only for small, lightweight pots and pans. On the positive side, the control switch is well-made and functions effectively compared to other hot plates I've tried. Additionally, the thin metal construction makes the hot plate quite light and easy to transport, which is a plus. The stainless steel heating element is more rust-resistant and easier to maintain compared to cast iron alternatives.During initial use, there was slight off-gassing. It's advisable to operate the hot plate outdoors for the first few uses to avoid inhaling residual manufacturing chemicals.Overall, this hot plate serves most supplemental cooking purposes I require. However, its 1000W power is insufficient for fast and efficient primary cooking.

Got this to use in my Skoolie. It's very convenient and got the job done - Just plug & play. I received the model with the "old" feet.It heats up very fast and I was able to warm up my food with ease. It has numbers from 1 to 5 instead of actual temperatures on the dial so I have no idea what is what... I turned it straight to 5 and assumed it was aroundd 400F but no clue... This would be great for RV use, camping, dorm, etc.I was warming up pad kee mao in a 10.25" cast iron skillet... I have not yet used it to actually cook with, but I'm sure I would have no problem judging by the how fast it heated up and the extent to which the noodles cooked in a short amount of time.. I plan on frying an egg or 2 soon so I'll return to update my review. So far so good - it heats up fast and gets the job done.
