These are almost perfect replacements for the old (like 40+ years) locks I had on my patio doors, which were loose and finicky (and one of them completely stopped locking). Everything fits together well, and the toggle switch for keeping the latch in place is much better than the slidey kind we had before. My only gripe is they are a little shorter (vertically) than the old ones, and 1) they juuuuust cover the holes in the doors, and 2) the screw holes on handles I had before are about 1/4” too far apart for them to fit.Like the old ones, I wouldn’t trust these alone to keep my door secure. I highly recommend physically preventing the door from opening when you’re away, either with a security bar, manual slide locks that fix the door to the frame, or a piece of wood cut to the length of the track where the door slides open.

All I can say is it works. For some reason, all sliding glass doors have flimsy , cheap handles and locks.

Wasn't able to use the screws provided (too long), but after a few attempts to install, it worked! So glad I made the purchase.

We found out, during Hurricane Ian, that one of our sliders had a broken lock. Even with the hurricane shutters closed, the wind forced the thousand lb doors open. We held them closed & stuffed two folded up puppy exercise pens, that were miraculously an exact fit, in the tracks to keep the wind out and that worked on that door but Ian ripped the locking mechanism right out of another slider on the other end of the house. I had a message in to a local door place to come out and replace both of them but while waiting I found this. I ordered two and replaced the broken locks in around 10 minutes each. Tip: as you are disassembling the old lock, take pictures. It’s much easier to visualize the replacement this way, compared to the instructions. At least it was for me.
