I've used Baldwin hardware for decades. I was a little concerned when the company changed hands - they used to make solid brass, very simple, reliable door sets. The new tech they've gone to isn't as old-school rough-and-tumble, but it's still very weighty and the action is unmatched. Their hardware is less expensive now as a result, but it's as reliable as ever and it functions as well as ever - it feels just as good in your hand. The difference in quality vs virtually every other brand is obvious, even to people who know nothong about door knobs. Aunt Clara would give it two thumbs up.

I cannot get enough of these. Love the shape, love the color. Something different that the usual. We repainted our doors and added these and I am obsessed.Edit: while I bought these because they are pretty, I am impressed with the key/lock. I locked myself in my office to get away from my boyfriend as a joke and after ten minutes he's still trying to pick the lock. Typically he can get into just about anything with a credit card but this is holding strong. A++

This is a beefy dummy knob and not a light weigh cheap immitation. We placed in on our pantry door as we needed a knob on it. It does not have a latch and does not latch close if that is what you are looking for. If you want it for decorative purposes to make a door stand out, this is for you.

I have kwikset laurel bronze throughout my home and the finish is starting to come off after about 3 years. A decent knob but nothing impressive. I never thought I could find anything affordable made by Baldwin, until I found the carnaby knob, a few bucks more than kwikset. I am beyond impressed. When I replaced the kwikset with this, I could not believe the difference in weight and richness in color. I plan to replace all my hardware with this gorgeous knob. My husband was impressed as well and with a lifetime warranty on finish and mechanics, you cant go wrong.

This doorknob is nicely made and matches other Baldwin Venetian Bronze hardware nicely except for one thing. The SmartKey system, uses a KW1 (Kwikset) keyway. That means that if you have other existing residential Baldwin locks, which generally use a SC1 (Schlage) keyway, you'll end up with two keys to operate all of your locks. Apart from that, this is nice hardware, solidly made and the SmartKey system is quite convenient and as secure as a conventional five pin lockset. If you want to get a keyway match for other Baldwin locks, the Schlage SecureKey system offers consumer settable rekeying using the SC1 keyway. Baldwin doesn't use that system probably because they're owned Black and Decker which also owns Kwikset. In general, you can mix SmartKey (Baldwin or Kwikset), Kwikset and Weiser locks, OR Baldwin SC1 (non SmartKey), Schlage and Dexter locks, but if you cross over, you're carrying an extra key. Bottom line is, check your keyway before you add locks to verify that the new locks can use the same key blanks as the existing. There are many more types of keyways than I've listed above, even within the various brands noted.
