As a first time mom this product helped bring me major peace of mind with my baby. Camera quality is really good and all the vitals taken make me feel a lot better. The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is because when my baby was a newborn he had skinny feet and the sensor wouldn't fold enough to make good connection with his skin and was constantly going off. We did stop using it until he was 2.5 months old when his foot was wide enough for it.

This is my first amazon review despite what I, assume, are hundreds of purchases on my end because I think the issues with this product are very important and shocking given the relatively decent average star rating for this listing (though pay mind to the very subpar ratings for the individual qualities, all of which curiously do not add up to the 4+ star rating). Unfortunately for us, we bought it during a prime sale before our baby arrived and failed to test the product within the return period so have eaten the cost—don’t make the same mistake. Would love my money back, as we have already bought new cameras for our baby’s sleep areas. The only reason this receives a 2 star instead of a 1 is because of the sock, which still has flaws as outlined below. As a parent to a newborn, you don’t have time for crappy products. Just move on from this one and look elsewhere. I would only entertain purchasing the sock if spending, a not insignificant amount of, money is worth it to you for a small peace of mind. I note, however, that I think this peace of mind—that many reviewers mention—may be a false peace of mind as I explain below. Which is useless. The sock is something you wouldn’t miss if you never tried it and more of a “good for the first time parent” type product but by no means a necessity. I’ll also preface by saying I do not know if there are competing socks on the market—I suppose if this is the only option than that makes the decision easy, but Owlet should and could still make a better product.First: the camera. It’s terrible. Truly. Given the outstanding number of competing cameras that are 20x better than this camera, it almost feels like selling an iPhone 5 when there are iPhone 14s in existence. If you told me this camera was $25, I would believe you. The picture quality is incredibly terrible, it is unable to connect well to wifi (despite all other products in our home connecting just fine), there’s a sound and movement lag, there is no functionality with the camera, and it is just all around is the bare minimum, if that. There’s honestly nothing else to say, it’s just not good.Second: the sock. I’ll start by saying we still use the sock. It provides ”nice to know”, but not necessary, details about the state of your baby’s sleep. In other words, we still use it because we can’t return it. It does give a sense of confidence that your baby is just fine in those moments when you haven’t seen him or her move in a while. However, I’m not sure how false that confidence is and I hope to never have to test that. That being said, the connection, like the camera, is terrible. In the time I have written this review, rocking my baby at 4am in the morning, the sock has lost connection to the base 5 times, and when that happens, this very now-annoying song plays to tell you the sock is not connected. The issue? I am one room down from the base and a straight shot from the base, I can quite literally see it from where I sit. This lost connection has also happened while the baby and sock are in the same room as the base (!!!) and I cannot tell you how frustrating it is to have a soundly sleepy baby and the base start singing a loud tune about a connection that should not be lost. It also has limitations within the app. It gives the data without any context or further detail. For example, it will designate periods of sleep as deep, light, or active, but not provide any details for why the algorithm used has assessed the sleep was deep, light, or active. It will also alert you if baby “needs attention” but not tell you why—and this alert is all encompassing, this is significant due to the purpose of the sock. This alert could be as small as the temperature in the room being a hair too cold or it could be the oxygen level of your child being low, very different levels of urgency here. I also note that the app provides the average oxygen level over 10 minutes—I do not know how low the oxygen would need to be for what period of time for the sock to alert a parent given it, evidently, calculates by averages and, perhaps, only pulls intermittent readings. Regardless, the first time I received the notification, my heart dropped because my mind went to more serious issues rather than just a particularly cold day in Texas and, again, you just have to figure out why baby “needs attention” because the app will not tell you. To me, this is a huge issue as the very purpose of the sock—for I imagine most parents—is that assurance that their baby is okay and to be able to be readily notified of any breathing issues etc. With this all encompassing notification, a parent has no notice of how severe an issue is, meaning the parent will need to jump to attention each time or not and, hope and pray, it is not a severe issue.

I'm at home with NB now and used Owlet Dream Duo for 2 weeks, this is what I've found.TLDR: My only real issue with product is value. This item is "not a bad" product with a hefty price. If I could do it again I would either buy a similar item at a lower price point, or a better camera for the same or more money.-Picture quality is fairly ok, exception is that there is an odd flicker so you are unable to see breathing at night because of the interference. If the camera were placed within 30 inches of baby, the flickering may diminish to allow breathing to be visible? Mine is currently placed 48 inches away because I wanted no risk of accidentally knocking it off the wall. Unlikely as the Owlet cam's magnetic base is strong- but I'd have still preferred it be bolted/ screwed.-Moving the sock off of the charging station onto baby's foot inevitably sets off alarms, so we find ourselves turning the volume off on our phones, then unplugging the base, then donning the sock, then turning everything on again. This may be our lack of knowledge as we haven't had time to learn with NB now here. Hint- you don't get a lot of time to learn tech with a NB in the house! I give credit here too, our NB was quite small but we haven't had a single false alarm at night, big plus!-The only functions I have found good use for are that I can look at the app to see baby's heart is beating (alive yay!) and having the room's audio available anywhere, as the audio is very good. Background audio is a nice feature so you can hear without app open. Also NB's signs in video are visible night and day if she is hungry, or if has rolled over onto stomach.- I've not found that this product actually does anything else useful for me. Sleep quality readings are junk, it last night registered baby as sleeping peacefully during a feed and diaper change.- While I am not familiar with any alternatives you should ask yourself what you want this to do for you. If audio / video maybe coupled with a life sign indicator such as breathing/ heart monitor is all you need (that's all the Owlet seems to do anyway) and if $500 cad sounds like a lot of money to you, then I suggest researching other items at a lower price point, and hopefully save a few dollars for some other important things that you'll inevitably be needing. ( Ie large size bottle sterilizer dryer combo!)

Not as advertised. The app does not have the features shown. Not worth it at all. Bought before baby come and return window is closed and now wasted $500.

Worst purchase. For the price they charge this is definitely not worth it. System is constantly crashing. Camera disconnects all the time ( my router is in the next room with excellent connection). Disappointed and don’t recommend.
