We love the Nanit system. Easy to use, great updates and functions, and camera works well.However I do think it is expensive and probably other cameras are better quality and less expensive.

My husband and I were terrified to bring our premature baby home without some way to monitor her breathing. She had some episodes in the NICU where she stopped breathing so we ordered several monitors just in case when they told us she was ready to come home. This was the one we kept. It’s so comforting to know that if she stops breathing, we are alerted right away even if we aren’t in the room. Putting on her breathing wear sleep sack is part of our baby girl’s sleep routine and she loves her “blankie”! The alerts for sound and motion are a little obnoxious (we live on a busy street so big trucks driving by set off the motion alerts and sirens set off the sound alarms so we even get them when we aren’t home) but it is awesome whenever she’s in her crib because we know if she’s waking up or whatever. If you are deciding between this and the owlet, we preferred this. It’s an investment in peace of mind and super helpful. It even has a nightlight and sound machine built in! My only complaint would be that I wish I could turn off the sound for when the baby is out of the crib “too long”. Sometimes it wakes her up just before I put her back so I have to remember to turn off the monitoring as soon as I get her out to nurse/rock/change/bottle her. It’s really cute getting to see the little updates/videos too! I didn’t think I was going to love it this much but I’m so glad we got it!

BUYER BEWARE!We purchased this Nanit Starter kit along with several other accessories (smart sheets, pouches, floor stand) when our first little baby was born about a year ago (June 2020). This cost over 800$ and included a 1 year subscription to Nanit insights. Now that the included subscription has ended we have lost virtually all features other than live video! I had researched extensively different cameras and Nanit was our pick mainly because of the breathing tracking. When reading about Insights, it was my understanding that it would allow for sleep statistic tracking, but would not be necessary to monitor breathing live, as this was the primary selling point of the system.I feel Nanit was deceitful in selling me a premium product that ultimately becomes a 100$ camera if the buyer does not continue to spend 160$/yr. Insights was presented as an optional system that would compliment the camera with additional stat tracking, and not the critical feature that would allow for virtually all functionality that is advertised with the purchase of the camera. This is very misleading. Had I not spent 800$ on the system, it wouldn't had bothered me to be on a costly subscription system, but now I feel like I was misled.As for the overall product, night vison is low-end and the sleep sacks have fragile zippers that come apart easily. The sleep sack included with this starter kit is rated from 6-15lbs, but at 10lbs it wont zip up anymore. They are made very small, so expect to buy medium size sacks rather soon.Breathing tracking worked well and we enjoyed this feature, up until our subscription ended and was disabled.I tried resolving this issue directly with Nanit, but their reply was that they would "consider my complaint for future product innovations." It was a pretty generic way of telling me they don't really care...Very disappointing. :(

Nanit is a great idea for worried new parents and does give you an extra sense of security when putting the baby to bed.HOWEVER. The app is more focused on UX than stability - both mine and my wife's phones will overheat/run out of battery when paired. Scarier still, sometimes the unit won't work or pair at all. Given the price, this shouldn't be a thing

The order and product were excellent. The seller was super understanding and was able to provide me the product way before its intended date.Excellent follow up and was very friendly along the way.This is my 2nd Nanit (I bought this as a gift for someone) and as a 2 year user, it's been a great camera for our child.
