I had one of these years ago that went belly-up after being stored with alkaline batteries. I missed it. I started a project in my son’s basement and decided it was time to replace it. I chose this one.First, the green laser is more visible than red, which can wash out in a sunny room. Also, get the horizontal and verticala capable model; that extra line really enhances usage option. I used this one mounted on a camera tripod to mark drill holes for a set of custom shelves using a stud as a reference point. All 100 holes were spot-on, and I was finished with the bracket mounting phase in 1/3 of the time I expected the old measure-and-drill-and-repeat method. This unit self levels in about 5-10 seconds and stays put unless it gets jostled. You can set a horizontal line, a vertical line, or both. Uses AA batteries, a feature I like for a tool such as this - quicker to change batteries than to wait for a recharge. Very nice case to prevent damage from other tools, parts, etc., and the price is reasonable. Highly recommend.

Simple to use bright laser, basic functions. That’s all I need. This is easy to use. I do not need to pull out the manual every time I go to use it I’m happy with my purchase.

I like this tool. I mount it on a photo tripod and this laser needs to be roughly level before it can adjust itself. I used a little torpedo level on top of this laser to get it close, then the laser did the rest. If the laser is flashing, that means it is out of range and needs leveling before it can work.
