Quality machine. Looks nice. I would just prefer a double rail. Otherwise all good and would recommend.

Comes with the two needed tools for assembly. Easy to put together. Only required a few screws and bolts in about three areas on the rower. It has a smaller foot print than most treadmills. The water tank provides smooth resistance. The water is a little louder than other fan rowers I've used before, especially if you slow down. It sloshes more then. It's not as convenient to adjust resistance because you have to add water with the included funnel or remove water with the included hose and hand pump (bucket to drain into not included). The assembly instructions were fine. The instructions for operating the electronic display and programs are lacking. Like any exercise, the more effort you put into it, the more you sweat and the more you get out of it.

***update as of July 13, 2021****The coil mechanism for this machine broke 2 months ago. The machine worked well for over a year. I used it 45-60 minutes a day and liked the results of rowing. When I contacted their support they were quick to reply. However, that is all that you will get. There's a lot of back and forth with customer support. It took about 4 email exchanges for them to understand I need a replacement part for the mechanism that retracts the strap. I follow up once every few weeks to ask when I'm going to receive my replacement part. They always reply that it's in backorder and that they will send to me once they have it in srock. I shouldn't have wasted money on this machine. I asked if I can return the machine and they told me to return to the point of sale. Amazon will not let you return things that was ordered over a uear ago. They keep apologizing for the delays but provided no resolution or action.I placed an order for a concept 2 and if the replacement part for this Marcy Pro doesn't show it I am throwing this heavy waste of machinery into the dumpster.***Previous update***The machine was working fine until the wheel mechanism beneath the machine that is responsible for retracting the strap broke. I could no longer use the rower as the strap was as loose as a limp noodle. I have no idea how to fix it. I reached out to their warranty support. They responded immediately but they did not get the part shipped out until almost a month later. They also did not tell me how to disassemble it and replace the part. I am kind of scared. I still have not received my parts and haven't worked out in over a month. I wish I had a more reliable machine. I also don't want to get rid of it since the machine is so heavy.--original review june 2020--Assembly was relatively easy. All tools required for assembly were provided. The instruction booklet that came along with it was decent. It was detailed enough for me to assemble the machine within an hour. It was not as detailed to show the orientation of certain parts so I had to disassemble and reassemble a couple of times. The hardest part was getting water into the basin with the provided tunnel and it is a dark purple so you don't know the exact level unless you had a flashlight or slosh the liquid around. The build is good quality. I am 5'9" 200 lbs and it has withstood my weight for over a month of working out an hour or two per day.Since I have used this machine every day for over a month. The only issue is that one of the bolts that attached to the seat came off. The Allen wrench that came with the machine is too big so I had to find a smaller wrench to re attach the part. The display is not intuitive to work. The minutes do not go past 100 and it restarts to 0 after 99 minutes and 99 seconds.

This was my first time with a water rower - ay my gym I use a Concept II. As most coverage of water rowers will tell you, you do get a great rowing experience with a fraction of the noise. The one drawback with these type rowers is that adjusting the resistance is a bit of a chore, as it requires adding or removing water from the tank. I started out with the water in the middle of the range and I would say it is about equivalent to having a concept II set to level 5, or maybe a bit higher.I'm 6'2" tall, and I do fine on this machine, but I think I'm coming within an inch or two of the end of the slide, so if you are 6'4" or taller, you might need to look elsewhere. The box is very heavy, and a bit of a challenge to move about, but the assembly is pretty straightforward. I don't think it took me more than 20-30 minutes. The one letdown for this particular rower is the computer. It is not backlit, and requires a LOT of direct light to be visible. It also tears through my rechargeable batteries (amazon basics) - I find myself having to swap them out at least once a week, which is crazy for such a simple device. It is obviously consuming a lot of power even when "off". It would have been nice if the computer could have been powered by the rowing action itself (like the concept II), but this seems pretty typical for machines in this price range. The nail in the coffin for the computer though is that it doesn't get the strokes per minute right. I'm doing around 500 strokes in 20 minutes, and it is telling me I'm getting 45-50 strokes per minute??? While I use my Garmin to capture stroke rate (which it does accurately) I do want to get the distance recorded off the machine - but this does not give me any faith that it is getting the distance right. .. and now I just looked at the 500m split time - it is telling me 42 seconds, which is obviously very, very wrong.Maybe my unit came with an older version of the computer though, because the manual talks about there being L1-L15 settings on the computer, and mine only goes from L1-L6.

I bought this Marcy water resistance rower to work out at home instead of the gym. A big plus is the fact that it was available immediately while many other rowers weren't due to high demand for home exercise equipment during the pandemic. The machine shipped two days after ordering it and it arrived a week later. I opened the box in my porch and took out the parts one by one for assembly inside my house. The only really heavy part was the pre-assembled main frame. Assembly by myself was not a problem. The only trouble I had was connecting two pairs of cables in tight quarters. Once assembled, I filled the tank to the second level and placed one of the chlorine tablets provided in the tank. The resistance in the second level turned out to be perfect for this 75 year old whose been away from the gym for about 10 weeks. This rower works great but the computer is hard to figure out so I am only using it to keep time. The seat is very comfortable. Unlike some other rowers, this one is elevated enough off the ground that sitting down and getting up require no effort. Overall, I am very happy so far but I have only used it for a couple of days. The workmanship of the machine seems excellent and it works very smoothly. For the Amazon price I think this Marcy rower offers good value and I highly recommend it based on my short experience with it.UPDATE: I have now been using this rower for seven months and love it. My initial review still applies. The computer does go through batteries quickly so I am now using Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries and getting much longer life from them. As far as the computer is concerned, I just keep track of time and strokes and that serves my purposes. I love the convenience of being able to work out at home and this rower meets my needs.
