Solidly holds bike, need license plate holder to prevent blockage. Lighter than most. Excellent investment.

This rack is difficult to put together but it’s doable. Thanks to the review by Dan S. I persisted even when things didn’t appear to line up properly. Particularly Step 5 and that darn cross bolt! It truly seemed impossible. I was finally able to get the two long bolts through the column AND have enough of a hole to get the cross bolt started - based on Dan S. review, you just have to start trying to screw it in and it will eventually catch and give you the hole size you need. The installation video was helpful for installing the lever which allowed you to go between a folded rack and a flat rack (for loading bicycles).

first hitch bike rack we have had. works great and was very easy to assemble and install.

I chose this over the NV 2 simply because of the weight of the rack. 51 pounds for me is too heavy to load alone. (older lady here). Watched the YouTube video. Assembly was a snap. This thing is sturdy and I expect to get years of service from it. I'm going from a hanging hitch bike rack to this. Worlds apart in ease of use and security. Included hitch lock, included cable lock to the rack for bicycle theft deterrence, simple to load. No longer do I need bungee cords, flex cable, pool noodles, etc to secure the tires and keep the bikes from hitting each other. Works with inset or flush mount hitches. Mine happens to be a flush mount hitch so it sticks out a bit further but not enough to be an issue. The tilt-away feature allows me to use the rear SUV door. There is NO movement (or wiggling) of the rack once it is tightened down using the simple ball tightener (yes, I know it has a name but "ball tightener" was all I could think of).

Using the shipping box for installation is great, it does make it easier. The rack is sturdy, that you should expect in this price range. It would had been nice, if the hitch bolt had been thicker and it would not be loose. It's hard to get the bolt tighten up when the rack is locked into the 2' hitch receiver. While the rack will tigthen up, won't move, the hitch bolt stays loose and rattles a bit.The rack in closed position will block the rearview camera on the Ford Maverick, it partially covers the license plate too, but it doe not cover the brake lights. The 34 lbs weight does not seem much, but it is not easy to hold with one hand and carry it around. There isn't really a good, balance carrying handle in the middle. Other than that, it is a sturdy bike rack, havent had any issues with it...
