Our alarms started making the dreadful beeping sound and we knew we had to upgrade instead of just replacing batteries. This system connects to other alarms of the same model/brand so it seemed very useful. We purchased a few for the whole house after researching the brand, we want it to last another 10 years! Saw great reviews and ordered! Actually it was very easy to mount and took less than 5 minutes each to swap the old system with the new. I’ve had no issues since I bought them.

We needed to replace a set of old Kidde smoke detectors in our home that had just reached their end of life. For whatever reason the new Kidde alarms have a different cable to the old ones that were previously wired into our home, so it was easier to buy these with a built-in 10-year battery rather than re-wire everything in the roof, or pay extra to buy a bunch of adapters, that may or may not work, depending on which new alarm choice I made. I knew I would have to replace the ring in the roof with the new one that these came with, but what I was not expecting was that there were only TWO SCREW HOLES in the base, neither of which lined up with the six old KIDDE detectors I was removing. Ironically the old roof rings must have had 6 to 8 different screw hole options, but the new ones didn't match up with anything. Unfortunately, screwing directly into the roof wasn't an option as I needed to cover the old hole with wiring with the new units, and the round wire bracket in the ceiling comes pre-built with four screw location possibilities, but none of which work for this new unit, so I had to measure and drill my own holes, which was far more difficult than I imagined as the initial holes still didn't work out so I had to drill a few options until I got it just right by the time I got the 6th unit installed. Soooo... be warned... these work, but installation may not be as easy as you think.

I asked the local fire department to install these, and they had no problem doing so. The green flashing light on them is a little bright for the bedrooms, so you might want to darken it a little bit with a black marker. You will still see the light trust me. Overall they're doing a great job.

Great smoke detector. Great value for the money. Loud alarm when needed. 10 year battery life. Easy and quick to put up.
