These were easy to install on my 2008 Z4 and work very well - one alone will hold the hood up, and two will raise the hood quickly without any help. The sockets had grease in them already, however I added some more just to be thorough. One must help the hood down afterwards since it won't drop into place by itself, and these provide just the right amount of lift to make the task easy. Press firmly in the center to latch the hood afterwards.

I got tired of my hood falling on my head, these 100% did the trick. They aren’t so strong that it makes the hood difficult to unlock at all. After you unlock the hood, a light lift causes the hood to go up almost all by itself. They don’t shoot it up in some wild manner, it’s more of a calm “hello, here is your engine” Alfred Pennyworth type.

Ten minute repair and they seem to be balanced very well. Not so strong you can't shut the hood and not so weak that the hood won't stay up.
