Serves it's purpose. Not flimsy I use it when I put a/c in the window.

I used this to secure a vertical window that has a window AC installed. It's well made but I was actually close to returning it because it was just a little too short for my window. The next peg down was too tight and the next peg up was too short. Just then, I realize that you can unscrew the rubber portion at the bottom for micro adjustments. If you can't get a tight fit on your window, you'll want to use the screw near the rubber portion to get it as tight as possible.I do think the bar is probably better suited for sliding glass since it will sit flat on the sill and keep the window from being opened. For vertical windows, someone could just break your window and just push the bar out of the way. I still think it's good to have and extra peace of mind but I would probably go a step further with sash locks in addition to the security bar for extra protection. It will certainly defeat the average dumb crook but if someone really wants in, you'll want more than a bar that can be defeated by breaking the glass. It's still a good product and very well made and sturdy which is why I'm going 5 stars.

Wanted something to secure the sliding glass door from the house to our screened-in patio (lanai), so we could leave it open "just a crack" for the cat to use. When fully extended in the track of our older sliding door, it leaves about a 6 inch opening ... perfect for our Fat Cat, but too narrow for a human. This ended up being considerably cheaper (and much easier) than installing a cat door! There is virtually no installation. We just set it in the track, and even my adult son can't force the door open when it's in there. For added security it can be attached to the wall ... which I haven't gotten around to yet, but looks very easy to do.

The best one. We used them for the basement window where our daughter sleeps very sound. And, for the new patio door and we just used the pressure without drilling a hole in the brand new aluminium which is not a good idea. My husband tried very hard to open the door and the window without even a slight move. Very happy with these bars.

It's surprising how many poorly made security bars exist for what should amount to a very simple product...I researched many bars on Amazon and my local big box hardware store and left disappointed with what I surveyed; notably poorly used materials (plastics), and lack of adjustability. Simply put, I want a bar made to withstand forceful intrusion that isn't complicated by too many working/ poorly designed parts. This security bar fits the bill regarding durability and ease of use. Everything is metal, it's adjustable to millimeters, and secured properly such that a human being can't force this open since pins and threads are used vs. tension. The only knock I have against this is the velcro provided; it's not cut to dimension and offers little stability by itself. Nonetheless, the tension should be sufficient to keep this in place, and the fact that there is a hole to screw this into something is a plus.Overall highly recommended! Look no further if you want something that will do what you expect; stop intruders from forcing your window/door open.Cheers!
