I absolutely love this pot set. It's lightweight, lets me make amazing food just like a magnalite and the cost was amazing. Easy to clean so I don't have to worry about stuff being stuck to it

A decade ago, I bought an IMUSA caldero at Kmart, and I thought that's what I was getting with this. It had a heavy cast-aluminum pot with a very durable anodized finish, and vented glass lid. These are thinner, spun metal pots, and cast aluminum lids. One of the pans was dinged. Possibly it had been damaged by a fork lift in the warehouse. I managed to torque the pot back into a round shape that the lid easily fit, which says these are *not* a set you want to have if you have kids that think cookware make a nice rough-and-tumble toy.On the other hand, I don't do that, and the fact that I so easily fixed the pans tells me that they'll probably last me a long time. The sizes are pretty convenient, too. I toss a half cup of Basmati rice into the small one, add a cup of water, boil the water, cover, and set it off the burner to get 1 12/2 cups of perfect rice. The biggest size, is almost as big as a dutch oven, and I use it to make bone-in pork butt. (Google the Mario Batali recipe on the Esquire magazine site.) The middle one gets used the most. I don't trust the knobs on the lids to be ovenproof, but they are very easy to unscrew and reassemble when done.Cleanup is very easy. I take a quick scour with a stainless steel sponge, and the insides are sparkling. Unfortunately, the outside isn't as easy to clean. They arrive with stickers that almost impossible to remove, and when the temperature gets to cooking levels, the adhesive runs. The area inside those cast aluminum handles is difficult to scrub with a brush, a brillo pad, or stainless steel sponge, so while my caldurae are sparkling clean inside, the exteriors aren't pretty enough to set in the center of the dining table if you invite company over for Sunday dinner. It's actually a 6-piece set, by most manufacturers standards - three pots and three lids. The cast one from Kmart got used for frying. I have browned roasts before braising, but I haven't attempted to fry hamburgers, because the metal is rather thin. On the other hand, it heats very evenly.I would highly recommend tyhis set for someone setting up housekeeping, or as cookware for the cottage. If you're going to use them for bacon and eggs, for soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch, and for steak and roasting ears for supper, feeding a whole family, seven days a week, you'd probably want to get a heavier caldura with the glass lid - but that doesn't mean these won't come in handy at Thanksgiving, when one needs every piece of cookware one can get his hands on.. .And while this cookware has its limitations, it's not shoddy. Given care, these should last a number of years, and survive a few iincidents of forgetting food until it's burnt to flinders.
