Really pleased with this waffle maker. The waffles ate nicely crisp on exterior, release easily from pan, and pan is easy to clean. Just what I wanted.

Bottom line: The waffle iron is great, easy to use and no stick. We just have a concern that a lot of them were dropped.However... We price checked locally prior to purchasing this waffle iron. It has great reviews everywhere, so it was the model we wanted. Amazon was at least $10 cheaper then other big retailers, which in this day and age isn't so normal, as a lot of BIG retailers price match Amazon. We ordered from Amazon and did receive quick delivery. The outer Amazon box was undamaged, unscarred, and clean. The waffle iron box, on the other hand, was obviously smashed on one corner. Smashed so badly, and with holes poked through the cardboard that upon opening, my fears were proven true: the waffle iron itself was damaged. We never had to take it out of its box, as you could see that the handle was broken. We immediately did an on-line request for replacement and, to their credit, Amazon shipped out a new one that evening. Amazon also paid for return shipping. Two days later we receive our new waffle iron. Again, the outer Amazon box is in great shape, but the waffle iron box is smashed on the same corner! With trepidation we opened the inner box and saw that the styrofoam padding was cracked, but at least the handle was intact. We tried the iron out this morning and are very pleased. I did one seasoning with veg oil and starting making about 8 waffles, some to eat this morning and some to be bagged for later days. The waffle iron heats up FAST and cooks FAST, like less than 2 minutes to cook a waffle. We use a home made dry mix with very little oil in the batter, and it takes about 1/2 of a cup of batter per waffle. The children are eager to watch the iron and turn / flip it over. The drip tray is a grey plastic, which is dishwasher safe, but we didn't have any spill over.Bottom line: great waffle iron. Just concerned about the box damage. In the accompanying photos: the first two pictures are of the first iron we received showing the box damage. The next two photos are of the cracked handle of this first waffle maker. The last photo was the box for the second waffle iron delivered. Again, the outer Amazon box showed no damage either time.

I like this flip waffle maker a lot.- It is very easy to use. And the end products are fatantistic. I never made waffles at home before I purchased this little appliance and I had great success in making them.- It is easy to clean. There is a drip tray under the waffle maker to catch any overflow. You can remove and wash the tray after each use. The waffle plates are not removable so you need to use soapy water and soft cloths to clean them. However, I didn't find it is difficult to clean the plates. The non stick surface is easy to wipe clean.- The design of the handle is good so when I open the waffle maker when waffles are done, my hands don't feel hot. There are two lights. When you plug it in, the red light is on. When you reach the certain temperature, the green light is on. But it won't tell you when waffles are done. You need to pay attention to time or set a timer yourselves. You can also adjust the browning.Overall, it is a great addition to our kitchen.

I love Belgian Waffles on the weekend and I bought this to replace a Waring that had a meltdown. I loved the Waring in many ways, but I've had 2 that have failed now in exactly the same way (most of unit is metal except for plastic parts where it swivels and this is prone to catastrophic meltdown), so I've decided to try my luck with another brand.I haven't had this one long enough to see how it holds up over time. But right out of the box impressions and the first few uses look promising. It is a bit more compact in terms of counter space that it takes up, so if you leave it on counter and have a smaller kitchen that could be a plus. Construction is mostly metal, although there are some plastic parts. Looks like it is less likely to have the same Achilles Heel design flaw that Waring has because most of the parts that are in high heat area are metal. Operates well and the waffles have not been sticking or burning.I'm not convinced that the "ready" light is all that accurate, so I tend to check visually after a few minutes and develop a feel for how long it really takes at a certain setting. In my case, I only make one or two at a time, so it is no big deal to do it by "using the Force." If I were making a lot for a bigger group of people, I would get it down to a more exact science and come up with a time that I liked and then use a kitchen timer. But I would not rely on the built in ready light except as a very rough guide. The only thing I don't completely love about this guy is the deepness of the pockets. Not sure how to measure waffle height exactly, but the thickest part of the waffle height on my old Waring unit seemed like about 7/8" or so. The Hamilton Beach makes waffles that are a little thinner... maybe 1/2" or 5/8" at most on thickest part. Doesn't sound like much difference and they taste great, but in terms of presentation they are a bit less luxuriant looking. If you were ordering waffles out at a restaurant and comparing, the thicker waffles definitely have a premium gourmet sort of look.... the thinner ones that the HB makes look a little more "bargain breakfast counter" at first impression. As I say, they taste fine, just less visually appealing. Even so, they are thick enough to qualify as a Belgian style waffle in my opinion, they are not so thin that they look like cheap frozen waffles you throw in a toaster or anything that disappointing.Unit is easy to operate and clean. Hoping it holds up better than my experience with other brand. If it lasts, the price is right and it will be a good value.
