I used it last night for the first time and it was super efficient and very quiet. The end product was ground very dry . I mixed some with soil and added it to plants this morning. I am a gardener so I am very happy with this product. I made sure the pieces were cut to a small size as directed. I would recommend this FoodCycler.I wanted to add to my 5 star. What I noticed when I added the mix to potting soil for starting indoors, I may have added too much it made the room smell like I was cooking a roast. So I put an air freshener in the room for a few days and the odour did get better. I did not have meat in there being a vegetarian. Was not an unpleasant odour just noticeable .

A pot full of veg and fruit trimmings, tea bags, coffee grounds, shrimp shells, popcorn hulls, etc., turned into this fine grained compost in a few hours. Just set the basket full of food scraps in the housing, turn it on and it takes care of itself. Quiet and unobtrusive while processing. The container has a filter in the lid that completely prevents odors as it sits on the kitchen counter collecting material to be processed. This is a simple overnight sensation. It reduces the bulk of food processed by about 90%. The resulting compost is dry and fluffy (as long as you don't add greasy foods or too much doughy or high-liquid-content scraps). The finished compost easily empties into a bucket just waiting for the spring garden. We've always had great success with Vitamix products, and this one did not disappoint.

If you come to my house, you will hear me raving about this product. One of my friends saw it in action and immediately ordered one for herself. I love how I have completely cut down all my food waste down to almost nothing. Almost everything goes into it. I even put the dead leaves from my plants into it. It works so well. I live by myself, but somehow I find that I am running this machine nearly every other day. I do eat a lot of fruits and veggies, so I have a lot of skins, pits, and other non-edible organic materials to dump in the machine. The "compost" that comes out, gets dumped into a bin with soil to further break down a bit more and then can be used on plants. It's amazing! It's a bit of an investment, but it's totally worth it. My energy bill has not really gone up from running it. It does take around 6-8 hours to run. I run it usually over night when energy consumption is lower.I keep the scrap bin in the kitchen and the machine in another part of my house on the floor.
