I have a basement that, for the longest time, had serious water intrusion issues. I have since corrected the issue but this unit was a LIFE SAVER during the issues. It really does do a fantastic job at decreasing humidity and it isn't overly loud. I used the included hose to drain into my laundry sink. Now that the water flooding issue has been corrected, this fella does work keeping the humidity down in my basement. It's a pretty big unit but does come on casters so it moves easily.

My old DeLonghi dehumidifier finally conked out after 10+ years of hard working service. Delighted to find this replacement. Hopefully it can go the same distance.

This review is for the De'Longhi 35 Pint Dehumidifier with Pump. It has a 35 pint capacity which is fairly large. This can be used to dehumidify areas up to 3k square feet but the smaller the place the more powerful this is going to be. In the box you get the dehumidifier itself and 16 feet of clear drain tubing and around 3 feet of white tubing for the back of the unit. It has a carbon filter element for smells as well as a cloth over-filter for dual filtration.Operation. This is fairly intuitive to use. There is a power button to turn it on. From there you can hit the up or down arrow to adjust the humidity levels you want which raises and lowers in 5% increments only. There is a temperature setting button that toggles between temp and humidity. Then you have a timer function as well as a button to turn the pump on and off depending on how you wish to use it.In order to drain this you have 2 options. The manual way is to wait for the alarm to beep and then pull out the bucket and carry it over to a drain. However this dehumidifier includes a drain tube as well as a pump so your options are endless. Because of the pump you are able to drain upwards with this into a sink and do not require it to be a gravity drain. This is a huge deal and major feature to have.Overall this was a very nice unit. I am happy with how it performs and also how easy it is to use. I can recommend this to anyone that needs to dehumidify a large or small area. The smaller it is the longer you can go between emptying it. I am a big fan of this brand and own a portable AC from them that is wonderful too.

This is a good-looking, non-blocky 35-pints-per-day rated humidifier. It's kind of elegant for a humidifier. But since every humidifier I've owned has been placed in a basement or crawl space, looks aren't vital. Operation is, and that's where this humidifier stands out--if for no other reason, because it contains a pump for expelling water. You're not limited to draining solely by gravity through a hose into a floor drain or sump--or to emptying a reservoir by hand. You can set the dehumidifier to pump operation using a hose that reaches above the unit to a sink.DeLonghi dehumidifiers were left out of a recent Consumer Reports ranking of dehumidifiers, but are top rated on other consumer sites. I don't know why Consumer Reports failed to include DeLonghi. The same was true of a recent CR ranking of portable air conditioners: no DeLonghis included despite their being sold by Costco and highly rated elsewhere. I think this says more about Consumer Reports than DeLonghi, actually....Uses a control panel on which desired humidity percentage and fan speed can be set. Timer operation is also available. Noise level is substantially less than most dehumidifiers. Finally, a washable dual screen filter is intended to help with musty smell. I can't vouch for its effectiveness yet, but I appreciate the washable screens.

My wife and I have serious allergies, additionally we have an HVAC system that is over-sized and over-powered. So our A/C cools the house too fast and thus doesn't dehumidify as much as a smaller A/C. Given that greater than 60% humidity leads to molds, insects and allergens being more prominent (including dust mites), we decided we would either have to spend thousands and replace our HVAC or try dehumidifiers. So we currently have humidifiers on the first and second floors with a third one in over-sized walk-in closets by the bathroom. The old unit we had upstairs was purchased because we sleep upstairs and it was marketed as a "whisper quiet' brand (sold by Pure and Dry). However, it was anything but quiet and it had to be replaced due to the excessive noise. This unit by De'longhi is now in the area where we sleep and it is so much quieter, even though there is no marketing about this feature. It also seems to work a lot faster, I guess it stays on about 25% of the time the old unit was on. So this is likely saving us money as well. This is the first dehumidifier we have tried with a carbon filter. Our other humidifiers have filters that must be cleaned, but they are filtering air that comes into the machine so there is no damage, not cleaning the air, per se. the carbon filter on the delonghi, on the other hand, filters the air leaving the unit. while it is not tightly woven like an HVAC filter, the carbon does reduce any strong smells-- and this is a reasonable feature to have on a dehumidifier, given that humidity increases foul smells. This unit is a little smaller and sleeker and less boxy than the unit it is replacing, and the cost is similar. I can't imagine given anything less than 5 stars.
