UPDATE 9/4/2024: I did have the issue with the top plate coming off the clips and falling when the top is lifted, but I experienced it only with the thinner plates, and that too a couple of times only. So the other review that mentioned this was absolutely correct. However, I still love this waffle maker and will keep my 5-star rating intact!----I currently own the Dash mini waffle maker and use it regularly. But no matter what everyone says, all waffle makers with standard attached plates are hard to clean! This one checks off all my needs:1) It comes with removable plates that go straight into the dishwasher after use. Easy cleaning!2) It comes in different plate 'thickness' sizes - one that makes the thick fluffy waffles (see pic), and a second set for thinner crispier waffles (like the ones made by Dash mini.)3) It's still compact sized! Not as mini as the Dash, but I wanted a slightly bigger one than the mini anyway. Easy to store away vertically after use!4) Cooks evenly! So far I've only used the thicker plates for my savory waffles (see pic), but it cooked evenly and beautifully! I'll use the thinner plates to make my Dash-consistency waffles soon. I'm sure it won't disappoint.One of the reviewers mentioned that the top plate could fall off while making waffles. But that seems quite unlikely since the plates snap on pretty securely into the waffle maker. It has 2 clips that go into grooves at the bottom and top of the plate snaps into the clips. Seems pretty secure to me. That was my only concern that I read about before I purchased it, but it doesn't seem like a likely issue.All in all, this is the perfect waffle maker for me! I bought and returned 3 others recently (sorry Amazon) since their usability didn't match my needs. This one will stay! Thank you Cuisinart! I would highly recommend folks to give this one a shot if you're looking to satisfy the 4 points I listed above! 👍

I love the removable plates it’s totally the reason I opted to buy this model. So easy to clean up. Seemed slow to warm up but results were great. I used the heat setting at 4 and 5. I like brown and crispy so 5 worked out well. I filled the cup to the top and it ran out as pictured. My batter was more likely too thin causing it to run. My batter was for pancakes not waffles. I don’t know if there really is a difference. Anyway I used less batter for the waffle pictured and it worked better. Tasted great!

This makes the best waffles. They are about 6" across, perfect for one serving. I used a generic all in one pancake mix (because I am lazy) , added some vanilla, vegetable oil and baking soda for my mix. The waffle in the picture was made on setting #4. I made one first on #2, and it was lighter. Husband likes light ones, I like darker ones. No oil on the cooking plates and came off perfectly, no sticking at all. I did put a dish towel under it because the underside gets a bit warm. Would be fine in a granite counter or the stove, but my countertops are not immune to getting burned. It preheats pretty quickly, and beeps when it is ready and again when it is finished. I was getting nervous when it seemed to be cooking longer than I expected, but as my son says "trust your technology". And It beeped and the waffle came out perfect. It stores standing up which is very convenient. I have not used the regular plates, only the belgian ones. Since it is nonstick, easy cleanup, I did not remove the plates to clean...What I dislike: It takes forever to cool down, so be prepared to be patient before you can put away. And do not touch the top of it, it is hot!

I was looking to replace our huge waffle maker with a good brand and smaller foot print. Also, looking for a well designed appliance that was easy to clean if any spillage. Thus far, we love this new appliance: so easy to use: green light and beep: ready for batter; green and beep : cooked! I like the removable plates for washing. We just hand washed it rather than trying the dish washer. There are 2 set of plates: Belgian waffle [deep crevasses] and thinner waffle. We prefer the Belgian waffle plates, and highly recommend you don’t lift the upper lid until the green light and beep comes on again. Otherwise, very fluffy and soft. We tried 3 and 4 graded cooking: preferred the 4 for Belgian waffle plates. I would use 3 if using the other waffle plates. The foot print is small relatively to our older one. Obviously, this is great for small families, but it didn’t take long to cook..about 2 minutes per waffle. Love it.

Works well, makes evenly cooked waffles. Exterior is mostly plastic.Only occasional issue is that the top plate may "pop out" when opening /closing the maker.
