One of the boys on my baseball team was hit in the jawguard shortly after purchasing one. If he didn't have that on... well.. it would have been bad. This prompted me to buy one for my son (and indeed, most of the boys on my team).At first my son was worried it would rub his shoulder when he swings, or block some portion of his vision when at the plate... but neither has been the case.It is easy to install, and outlasted the helmet itself (so we moved it to his new one). It hasn't been struck by a pitch, so I can't say what happens in that event.... but it seems strong and sturdy (indeed, my son uses it as a handle to carry the helmet and when putting the helmet on).I am happy with my purchase.
