This review is actually about the seller. I have N scale track and accidentally ordered this HO scale caboose along with an N scale rail car. Instead of just sending me the order, Iron Planet Hobbies sent me a message asking if I really meant to order both of these items considering the difference in scales, thus saving me needing to return this particular item.As far as I'm concerned, Joni at Iron Planet Hobbies went above and beyond what the majority of other sellers might have done in this case. The N scale rail car that I did order from them arrived quickly as did the refund for what I spent on this caboose. The Thank You card I received along with the order was a nice touch as well.If ever I am in the market for more rolling stock, this vender will be the first place I check with one way or another.

I ordered this for my husband for Christmas. Once I told him my dad had worked for the RR as had my Papa(grandfather) my husband has developed a huge interest in trains, rail-fanning, and acquiring cars to make a model RR set up. I had no idea what I was doing honestly. I snuck to his desk while he was sleeping and verified he has been slowly getting HO scale cars. I know he’s a huge fan of UP. Well he opened this and was so surprised. He said he didn’t need to open anything else because he was more than satisfied with his caboose. He had no idea he was about to open 2 more UP rail cars.

Its pretty basic, needs proper handrails etc, but good at the price.

The Caboose is well made but despite the picture showing it with a red roof it did not have the prototype red roof. I painted the roof to match the prototype and it works fine.
