If you have a sunroom, most of the time, you don't need AC running. They're typically called a "3 season" room for that reason. But, when things get really hot, or if you're out of power, you might need to fire up a portable AC in a room that isn't set up for draining.Now, the best way to drain a portable AC is to cut a hole into the wall and drain it directly outside. If, however, you don't want to drill a hole through the wall for a drain you're only going to use one season per year or for emergencies, there is another option.When I hooked this up to my portable AC in the event of severe weather when running a generator, I simply drilled a hole into the lid of a 5 gallon clear bucket. My portable AC was able to drain into this pump and when it reached a certain level, the pump transmitted the condensation effortlessly into my 5 gallon bucket throughout the day, no holes or drilling required.At the end of the day when I shut off the AC, I just pulled the tube out and dumped it out the back door like I would a dehumidifer bin.It's a non-standard use case, for sure, but it is PERFECT if your situation is like mine.

This pump works well for air conditioners, dehumidifiers, or any other heat pumps that produce condensate from the air. The float switch triggers the pump to turn on when the reservoir fills up about halfway with water. It runs smooth and quiet, and the check valve works to keep any pumped water from flowing back into the reservoir.I recommend adding a p-trap on the drain line, in case the check valve ever fails. This can be done by making a loop in flexible drain tubing close to the pump and securing it with a zip tie, or you can plumb something like an EZ-Trap in with a vacuum breaker of some kind such as a vent.There are plenty of input holes to choose from depending on the orientation needed. Most of them accept 3/4" pipe and can be used with PEX, PVC, CPVC, or flexible tubing.A steel mesh strainer is included, but if you use this, you'll need to remember to check and clean it frequently. If the strainer becomes clogged, it could result in water spilling over outside the pump.Overall, a good condensate pump option, but long term durability and reliability are still unknown.

I ordered a 78 GPH model and received an 85 GPH unit, so I'm guessing the smaller pump was out of stock. The same thing happened for the 76 GPH model I ordered. Both packages had the model CDS320 on the box. I'm reviewing this one separately because while the pump worked really well and the float looks like it will last for many years, the box was damaged, two parts that came with the other identical unit were missing, and there were no instructions. If you're simply replacing a condensate pump, you won't need the instructions, in my opinion. The parts that were missing were a pipe adapter and a filter screen to filter out debris to keep it out of the pump tank so that it doesn't clog the pump. It's quiet when it's pumping, with an advertised noise level of 28 dB(A).I'll say here that I believe the box was damaged in transit, opened, everything rearranged, and what wasn't lost was put in the box, and it was taped back together. One of the flanges where a screw secures the unit to the furnace was broken. I deducted a star for this. (The other identical one arrived in great condition with all the parts and instructions.)In my case, the tanks are identical, and I ordered these as backup units for my current pump, and I can simply reuse the one tank for both units. The instructions, pipe adapter, and filter screen didn't make it back into the box. The other unit arrived in good condition, and it will get the good review.

This little pump is amazing. I used this particular kit for a dehumidifier that I use in the lower level of my home. It drains the dehumidifier as soon as the little reservoir fills up. This eliminates me from having to constantly check the unit and dump the bin every time it fills up. I can confidently let my unit run nonstop, effortlessly.The reservoir for this unit, when full, will trigger the pump and drain all the contents through a 1/4” tube to a designated location. The pump is strong enough to push the water through a tube that can easily span the length of a room or more if needed, as the manual suggest up to 84’. This allows you to have a ton of placement options. The only thing to note is that you will need to purchase the extra tubing length separately. This kit only comes with about 5-6’ of tube which will need to be split between the reservoir to pump and pump to drain.This little kit has simplified the operation of my dehumidifier greatly. It is very easy to forget about something that is out of sight. Now I do not have to think or wonder when the last time I drained the bin or even checked on the dehumidifier. I just set the humidity level that I want to maintain and this pump actively drains the access water, allowing continuous use. Most beneficial and useful product for homeowners in humid regions.

The pump is easy to use. I'm using it for a refrigerator's drip pan that I have to empty once a week that's a real pain to take out and put back in. I've just taken some extra silicone hose for the outlet end and wedged inlet hose into the pan where it won't come out and routed it to the pump that I placed at the back of the fridge and coiled the outlet hose I had on hand and hung it on the back of the fridge. Now when I empty the pan I can take a large 44 oz cup or something and plug the pump in and wait a couple of minutes as it sucks the water out of the pan.It comes with plenty of connections and fittings, zip ties , etc to pretty much route it the way you need to set it up automatically. I just needed the small pump.-1 star for the minimal amount of hose that comes with it. It only has enough for a short run between the reservoir and the pump. None for the outlet on the pump.Glad I got this. 4 stars.
