I own several of these. Some for my lights and a couple for my cameras. I've had them on for hours (5-12 hrs at a time) and no problems so far. The small bar gets a little warm on all of them, but nothing alarming. Definitely less hot than a laptop charger. I'll come back and edit this review if anything happens after the 1 year mark. Great product so far though.

The battery adapter works as advertised - i.e. if you plug it into 110V AC and install the dummy battery into the D850, it will power the camera. I purchased it to power my D850 in the field with a USB power bank and I'm currently trying to find a voltage stepper to take the 5V DC from the power bank up to 7 or 8V DC to power the dummy battery (won't be using the AC adapter); or alternatively, 12VDC down to 7 or 8 VDC.

This dummy battery seems to be working just as it should. The camera shows a full battery charge when installed. The only complaint I have so far is that it comes in 3 pieces. Not sure why there needs to be a plug between the battery and the power adapter.

I bought another one of these off-brand dummy batteries that failed instantly. This one worked great. It never failed in the 12 hours of live streaming I did over 4 days.Update - a year or two later and never a problem.
