Rout both joining cuts with one reversible bit! Simply set the center of the bit with the center of the stock. Run one cut face up and the adjoining cut face down to create a perfect joint. Great for edge- joining tabletops, door panels and even flooring.

I've bought several Yonico bits over the years and find them all to be pretty good. I needed to edge glue some boards so decided to buy this bit to improve the process. In contrast to a lot of other reviewers, I found set up to be easy and the bit worked very well. Maybe having a fence with split in-feed and out-feed helped. First step was to set my in-feed fence so the bottom vertical portion of the bit shaved about 1/32 off the board, then set the out-feed fence at the same offset (even with the bottom cutter face). 2nd step was to center the bit at the center of the board height. I expected to have to make micro-height adjustments, but got it right on the first pass. Total time spent was about 30 minutes to clear off my (junk-collecting) router table, 5 minutes to mount the bit, and 10 minutes to set up the fence and bit height. Very happy with the quality of the bit and the resulting cuts.Regarding some of the complaints in other reviews, the bit mounted easily in my Dewalt router - no size issue, there was no vibration, and the geometry of the bit was perfect, allowing about 0.005" for the glue line on the inner faces. Regarding complaints of inconsistency cut to cut, that is obviously not the fault of the bit, but of maintaining the board in full contact with the fence and table.

I have a bunch of Yonico router bits and, by and large, they are great. This one, however, is worse than useless. The profile is not symmetrical so any joint you try to make will not engage positively and will be sloppy and weak. Added to that the cutting is terrible with loads of chatter and break out, even with progressive cuts. I have just wasted an afternoon and a bunch of jointed stock trying to get a good result from this. It is now in the bin.

I purchased this bit because of the price. Rather than spending $60 on a fried or CMT bit, I thought I would see how these worked first. With minimal set up, I actually achieved excellent results! I am glad that I chose this one and decided not to spend the extra money. The carbide seems to be thick and I have Probably made 30 panels with this and it is not showing signs of wear at all

I'm relatively new to woodworking, but I've done several panel glue ups with nothing but clamps and pocket screws. That method works ok as long as you are willing to spend a ton of time sanding. I've been quite interested in a more dependable, repeatable solution for a project I've been thinking about, so I thought I'd give a glue joint bit a try. I usually prefer to invest in whiteside bits, but I didn't feel like spending $50+ for a bit that I wasn't quite sure would work for me. The Yonico bit seemed reasonably priced enough for an experiment. The bit itself is quite heavy and large...it's definitely the largest bit I've bought so far. The carbide seems thick and sturdy and arrived sharp enough to pass the fingernail test (run the sharp end over your finger nail...it should easily take a little shaving off). Time will tell on the durability, but initial observed quality seemed good. The rest of this review concerns actually using a glue joint bit. As another reviewer mentioned, setup is VERY fussy. You need to get the bit height and distance to the fence exactly right. If the height is off, the boards won't line up. If the fence distance is off, you end up with a gap between your boards. If your first pass works perfectly, it's a total fluke. You can get pretty close by lining up the middle of the bit with the middle of the board and lining up the fence with the bit such that the tongues it leaves are not being cut down, but you'll definitely need to do some fine adjustment to achieve the desired result.I found it helpful to get the bit height dialed in first, then made a zero-clearance fence for this bit. Even with adjustable sub fences, I found I could not get them close enough to eliminate the dive-in at the end of the pass. A ZC fence fixed that. If too much of the bit is exposed beyond the fence, you might feel like you need to offset the outfeed fence as you would for edge jointing. Thinking about it now, that might actually work well, and joint your board at the same time. Oh well...I ended up adjusting the fence so that no offset was necessary. With the height and offset dialed in, I took a piece of MDF and cut myself a setup block. It probably took me about 45 minutes of experimenting to get it exactly right, but if I had to do it again (and I will if I want to run this on something besides 3/4 stock) it would probably take closer to 15-20 minutes.Overall, I feel pretty good with this purchase. Setup is challenging, but if you take your time you can get great results. I can't see how a better quality bit could make this process any easier, but a pre-cut setup block would certainly help.
