The bendy section is nice and tight, the alligator clips have tons of spring. The magnet is ok, but the way the alligator clips are attached to the flex, is just a very small single crimp, and as a result they are loose and flop around. So when holding wires, and you touch the wires with the soldering iron, the alligator clips spin and rotate and flip around and move the wires apart.

If you work with smaller hobby type projects, these are a must. Strong magnet base. If you are gluing/painting/soldering. I clip the target and then put my mag light on it. I have the target held into position under the light and I still have both hands to work. Good stuff!

These are good soldering hands. When I first began manipulating the arm, I noticed it would make a crinkle sound when moving, but once the arm had been bent in each direction once, it began operating smoothly. It was somewhat like cracking knucks only to find that they were loose and would not crack again. The hands themselves clamp down well.When ordering these, I had ambitious hopes for the magnetic feature. I realized I would ideally need a metal tray to use with them, but I also had some hopes of mounting them to the supports of my 3D printer when making repairs. Unfortunately, that is the wrong type of metal and even when attaching to a more fitting metal, they often tend to slide in a circle until the arm faces downward. The magnets have pretty good hold strength even though they are not quite as strong as I had hoped. Also, I noticed the magnets seem to hold in the bottom of the arm casing because they are resting within ferrous material. Since they are not glued in, one did briefly pop out when I happened to put the two bases together. It has held firm since I put it back in place.Overall, I think these are a good tool that provides helpful versatility while working.
