Note first there are two versions of the 5510 model. One cannot be shipped to California, the other is ok. I live in California and ordered that one. When the unit arrived I was surprised, the filter is smaller than the filters used in my 5300-2 (A filter) or my 5500-2 (H filter) but when I searched Amazon for replacement filters the results always indicated a 1161330 filter H, which is much too big. The filter indicated on my 5510 body is a Q filter. Try and find one outside the Winix web site where they were listed for $79 each. Ouch! BUT from owning the 5300 & 5500, the A and H filters are basically the same size minor differences. The H filter is slightly thinner and the charcoal filter is thicker and uses beads of charcoal. The A filter uses thin charcoal infused sheets. That said they can be used interchangeably. So I checked extensively and found the Winix S filter which fits the C545 unit. And these can be found on Amazon by various manufacturers. They are effectively the same size as the Q filter. The S filter is a fraction longer but will fit the 5510 no problem. The real difference is like the difference between the A and H filters. The Q uses a honeycombed unit with charcoal beads, the S filter very slightly thicker uses charcoal infused sheets. I know I ordered a set and personally confirmed, a box of 2 filters about $30. Now I don't care about the charcoal filters, my other units use both and work just fine. One other difference between the units I have and the 5510 - both the 5300 and 5500 use a model 310 motor, the 5510 uses a 311 motor. The 5510 can be used with a wireless app (why they run 24/7) and the 5510 seems to run a little louder (all units run at level 3). But for all this the 5510 seems to run fine. I bought this because both the 5300 and the 5500 are about $60 more now than what I paid a few years ago. They have been work horses. BUT if I hadn't found an acceptable solution to the filter issue, I would have returned the unit immediately.

The Winix 5510 is a powerful air purifier that's quiet, easy to operate and packed with features. However the app and documentation leave something to be desired. The 5510 seems to be some kind of one-off middle model that doesn't appear on any of the company's main brochures. I usually see this sort of thing when a model is made for a specific retailer like Costco, or when it has a unique or experimental feature not common to the rest of the product line. If you go to the Winix website, you won't find this one by browsing - you have to put the model number into the search to bring it up. Why is this relevant? If you search for replacement filters using this model number, you won't find many that match, but as far as I can tell the filters are identical to the ones used by the 5500.The packaging did a great job securing the cleaner and it arrived without any damage or issues. No assembly is required for setup, but you do have to remove the cover, the dust mesh and the two filters so you can take them out of their plastic covers and reinstall them. The machine is easy to operate, but the instructions provided are terrible for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the instructions don't actually tell you how to use the device. They explain how to install and replace the filters, and they explain the function of "Auto" and nighttime mode, but they don't tell you how to actually set auto and nighttime mode. It's not difficult to figure out, but the instructions have one job to do, and they spend more text on compliance garbage that users don't read or need, and none telling you how to operate the device. There's a light on the front center of the device. The diagram that labels the various features does not tell you that this is the air quality indicator. There's one sentence that mentions the air quality light in relation to something else, but absolutely nothing to tell you what the different colors mean. Again, it's not hard to figure out that red is bad and green is good, and other colors are something between, but the instructions have a single job and completely fail at it. Lastly, the instructions do not tell you want replacement filters are compatible. Instead they show you in about three different places how to contact the manufacturer to buy the filters from them.A huge part of the reason that I bought this Winix 5510 is because popular brands are easy to find replacement filters for. There's a huge secondary market making knockoff filters that will work mostly as well as OEM.The practice of gatekeeping replacement parts is kind of underhanded in my opinion. I get that low quality replacement media might diminish your opinion of the whole filter, but when you pay half price for something you should know what risk you're taking. For the record the HEPA filter provided is labeled "2522-058-01 Rev.01S" and the carbon pre-filter is labeled "2523-0053-00" Replacements are sold on Amazon, but the Amazon search won't bring them up for some reason. If you use google and search for "116130 5510" it will bring up links back into Amazon for replacement media. The filter has an app control instead of providing a remote control. On the one hand I can understand that having a remote control is just another object that's a hassle to keep track of or to lose and an app can fix that because you're much less likely to lose your phone, and even if you do, you can always install the app on a new phone. Unfortunately Winix decided to take advantage of the app to force you to create an account. At best every account you create for an app like this is a security liability and widens the attack surface for identity theft. When an account gives you significant benefits in return for the sacrifice of your privacy, I can understand it, but when it's just so you don't have to walk across the room to push one of four buttons, it is definitely not in your best interest to create it. The manufacturer should have made the app without a login or account requirement - many manufacturers do. For this reason I have not used the app and cannot recommend its use.The primary reason I purchased this air purifier was to clean the pet smell from a room in my house. I have not had it long enough to say how well it performs, but I will say that the air quality filter went from red to green after a short while but had not significantly reduced the smell. I will update the review after I have had more time with it, to confirm whether it does significantly clean the air in the room. The filter is very quiet unless you crank it up to "Turbo", and even then, all you really hear is the rush of air.For some reason the cat is very attracted to it and keeps reaching up to try to look into the air outlet. With sturdy construction, easy configuration, quiet operation, automatic air quality detection, replacement filters that are likely to be available even after a couple of years and light detection to automatically enable night mode, this filter has all of the features I could ask for except for an app that doesn't require a wholly unnecessary login.

Was persuaded to purchase this purifier due to the recent wildfires in Los Angeles. The Air quality in Los Angeles has been mostly bad the past 3 months and my search for a Air Purifier brought me to this one. This air purifier has a sleek and modern design, it's very appealing. Looks great in the living room. Matches all of the other black furnishing in the room.In terms of air filtration, it works extremely well. You can really tell the difference in air quality almost immediately. It is very quiet, especially on the night mode, which gets activated after the lights are dimmed. Sometimes I forget it's even on.It comes with a HEPA filter and a Carbon Pellet Filter. The app feature is great. It allows me to monitor the outside air as well as the my indoor air and I can control it from anywhere I'd like as long as its connected to our my WiFi network.Overall it's a great value for the money, not to mention...Mine came with a 2-year factory warranty.

Some details if you are sensitive to air quality and certain chemicals.I have an issue with an office recently built out with about 12 laminated cabinets and a large desk area. Consequently I noticed a persistent cough which grew worse through the day but was fine in other rooms. So I measured the air quality with an air quality monitor and indicated that the room had an issue with HCHO (formaldehyde) which makes sense with cabinets made with MDF board. Went from 0.17mg/m3 which is not good and should be less than .1. With the filter on, it went down to .05mg/m3. This was all within 20 mins of the filter running. No more coughing. Also the filter reduced VOCs which were high and the overall air quality had a significant improvement. What I especially like about the filter is that it can be set on a schedule to run during the day when im in my office and shut down around 7PM. It includes sensors to detect air qualty issues but doenst let you know exactly what it is that its sensing.

This is not my first Winix, but it’s quickly becoming my favorite one. The product is extremely sleek looking and fits perfectly within my living room aesthetic. It’s smaller than the 5500-2 I am now using in my bedroom, but much more powerful and cleans the room much faster at high fans speeds, while having a much lower noise level. The air quality sensor helps to know it’s working well and always catches cooking odors or when I blow my candle out.Love the ease of using the app, knowing when my filters will have to change and the quality of the filters.Overall a incredible value versus all the other products in the market.Recommend for anyone with allergies or just want some assistance dusty areas.
