This is a good shin pad. I have used this style as an adult and I liked the convenience of slipping it on after socks and shoes are one rather then before. So I extra love it now when it comes to my toddler. The only thing I would fault these is that the strap at the back has a very small piece of Velcro to secure it, so if the leg isn’t the exact size then the Velcro will scratch the leg. For an adult or older kid probably wouldn’t bother them but for a toddler it was a bother.

They work great and have a good feel, They may look big at first but is nice to have extra protection on the side.

These shin guards are fantastic... as a beginner set for a child that you aren't 100% sure will like Soccer in the first place. This will be my almost 6 year olds first time playing soccer and as I am an intelligent person in some areas, parenting being one of them, I know to either buy used or buy cheap. These were new for 7 dollars and are solid and fit my daughters' shin perfectly. I strapped them on her and hit them a few times pretty hard and she was un-phased so they will work well in terms of damage reduction on the field. The singular velcro strap is strong and slightly above the middle of the guard so gives a pretty secure lock around the calf to stop up and down movement and the guard goes under your sock anyway so its not meant to keep it on the leg itself without the sock over it. I had heard a problem with itching in regards to the strap and preemptively bought a size larger sock. Thus the sock is put on first, then the shin guard is strapped into place, then the remainder of the top of the sock is folded down over the guard. This is better than using two socks as there is much less foot slippage inside of the shoe (socks rubbing on socks is very slippery) with one sock. This also provides a little extra cushion for the shin under the guard and provides a firmer hold. Good buy for first timers, my sons will use them too when they are old enough and better ones will be bought as interest is found. Good buy in my humble opinion.
