Positive: Nice wood, finish, red stem ring, shape and weight. Draws decentNegative: Stem airway too small for pipe cleaner. I soak my stem in rubbing alcohol after a couple of uses and wash with hot water spray.. Minor cosmetic defects on finishOther: My bowl is relatively narrow. As in only my pinky can touch the bottom of this bowl. If you are breaking it in make sure you are smoking your tobacco to the end so that a proper cake is formed. Packing a large bowl may tempt some to dump out unfinished bowls and make sure you are putting your lighter right down into the bowl to ignite all tobacco. The Stem should have an airway that can be cleared by pipe cleaner other than that very happy and smoke it daily.

I am new to pipe smoking, so take my observations from that point of view. I was pleased with the condition of the shipping boxes and more importantly how well presented the kit was in their product box. I am very pleased with the appearance and condition of the pipe itself and although just learning to smoke it I am also pleased with how it smokes. I was especially pleased with the subtle purple abalone appearance of the trim ring on the mouthpiece. You have to see it in person to appreciate how striking it really is. I have had no trouble with excess heat in the bowl or troubles with keeping a good draft - or keeping one slow for that matter with no runaway burning or heating troubles. I do find the pipe to be just a bit on the heavy side for simply clenching as you really have to get a good bite on it to keep it stable in your mouth. No troubles at all though if you aren't planning on clenching all the time and prefer to simply sit peacefully and hold your pipe, as I do most often. Very pleasant shape and design that feels good in my big beefy man paws. The simple metal pipe stand is heavy enough to hold the pipe without stability issues and its sleek, clean design works well to accent the pipe over the stand. It being metal and substantial does set this kit apart from others that have a flimsy little plastic stand. The tamping tool is simple but adequate and I like it better than the bulkier versions you may find in kits similar to these which one of my sons has. Personal preference I guess but it gets the job done and I like it. The soft included carrying bag is a nice touch as well and should help to keep your pipe protected from bumps and scrapes. I've only used one of the included charcoal filters and those are also a personal choice, but I found it to remove much of the flavor I sought from the blend I was trying out, so I am currently not using the filters. The screen balls work well also but I've learned that I can load and tamp a bowl of smoke without using them and I am not having any troubles with clogging or keeping the pipe lit. Time and different cuts of pipe weed will tell if I should continue to use or not use them, I suppose. I do have a little bit of a problem getting the (included) pipe cleaners thru the mouthpiece though but with a little extra work and wiggling I do manage to clean it every time I smoke a bowl. Overall, I find this to be a great little bit of kit for a newbie pipe smoker. I am sure I will eventually find myself looking at those nice ($$$) briar pipes that you see reviewed by tobacconists on YouTube but for now, in my beginner state, this is just fine for me!

Great pipe! I just started smoking a pipe and the quality is great along with the begginer kit they sent. It was very helpful to get me up and smoking right away with all the proper tools. That only thing I was unaware of was the size was the bowl opening. Thought it might be a littler bigger. I also like to finish off my cigars using the pipe, helps me get it to the last smoke without burning myself.

I bought this pipe as a birthday gift for my husband and he loves it. He’s wanted to start smoking pipes for a while and this one seemed like a nice design with a good starter kit.I particularly like the beautiful presentation box and bag for storing the pipe, it makes for a lovely gift. The tool and pipe cleaners are also a useful addition for beginners.The pipe seems to be well made. The wood seems to be high quality and the finish still looks good after being used for a few months now.We were pleasantly surprised that the seller sent us a detailed instruction guide for the pipe and seemed genuinely interested in whether we were happy with our purchase, which made for a nice touch.

This pipe set by Whitlucks is fantastic. The price does not reflect the quality. The pipe is beautifully crafted and takes a soft warmth when smoking. The accessories are of high quality and add to the aesthetics. This makes a perfect set for any beginner, or if you are looking to gift to someone this Christmas! At the same time, do not hesitate to buy one for yourself. You deserve the finer things in life. 😊
