30 years general construction experience. Landlord. This machine is a game changer. Much lighter than those ol Porter Cables we used to have to use. If you honestly believe this eliminates dust, you've never done drywall. It reduces the dust, very well. If you think it's an excuse to be bad at finishing drywall, you've never done drywall. It will smooth good drywall work. If you're a professional and have realistic expectations, this is the one. I even found the triangle head useful. Sanded a new construction one bedroom apartment in 1 1/2 hours. Didn't break a sweat, 10' ceilings. Feet rarely left the floor, and very little pointing up by hand left. DON'T FORGET TO BUY SANDPAPER WITH IT. They send you 2 variety packs. Just grab a pile of 180 or 120.

I had a hard time with it to sand the ceiling. I have to put some pressure on the disc or the sand paper won’t touch the wall, while you already holding that 7lb? sander, and still easily out balance the disc then you make a groove? on the wall.I haven’t try it on wall though, price is good, but I won’t recommend it to anyone.

This sander lives up to the advertising, good power, good dust collection using a shop-vac and good features. I watched several YouTube videos on this sander before purchasing and most all were pretty much accurate in my experience. The sander seems to have plenty of power even when using 60 grit sanding disks as I never had it bog down. Dust collection with a shop-vac is very, very good, but as I saw in videos when everything is turned off and you rotate the unit sanding head down there will be some dust fall out. You do have to have a vacuum for dust collection, but it will run without it if you can stand the dust! The difference between sanding with a manual pole sander and this WEN unit when connected to a shop-vac are night and day! I have a basement to finish out and just doing a room previously, there was dust everywhere and I was trying to figure out how I was going to keep all that dust from getting upstairs. Using this WEN sander and a good shop-vac has alleviated my concern almost completely! A couple of things to know: the unit is slightly heavy and you will need to rest or switch arms occasionally and the On/Off switch is a little too easy to switch OFF accidently. The unit has one extension section if you have high walls or ceiling work and also a shoulder strap for the ceiling work to take some of the strain off your arms. I would bump the switch moving my hand around while moving the sanding head on the wall and turn the unit off and I think it just needs a slightly better location or more recessing to correct that. This WEN sander has delivered on its advertising promises and I'm happy with it and the results. I can recommend this product!

This sander works as intended, however a few things to note:1. If you have a larger job that is going to require more than (1) of your desired finish (grit), order more of these beforehand from Amazon as they are not readily available in the typical big box stores.2. This will fit on shop vacs with a 1-1/2” hose, but if you have a 2-1/2 or 3” hose, there are cheap adapter kits that will allow direct connection (no need for duct tape).3. Get ready to fight your hoses and extension cords as you move around your space.4. When sanding overhead, be prepared for a work out and be sure to tip the sander over to clear the dust since the vac will not be able to keep up. When you remove it from the work surface, lower it down keeping it level to your feet before tipping it over so you don’t end up looking like Scarface!5. Wear a respirator or mask. Goggles are also good as there will be a certain amount of dust flying beneath the perimeter guard (esp during overhead work).6. When sanding with the rotary sander (round), place it on the wall/ceiling where there isn’t mud (direct on drywall surface) and then ease into the sanding area. This way you wont leave big, circular gouges in your joint. When working overhead, make sure to quickly draw it away as the head will tip if not level, and gouging will occur.7. Use a shop vac with a bag. This will save you lots of precious time as you will be cleaning a normal filter about every 10 minutes8. Have fun and remember that it would normally take about 10x as much time if you did it by hand!
