This has been buried in a bucket next to my patio for over a (very rainy) year and has been a beast throughout. Pumps all of the water before it can reach my patio, preventing flooding inside from an otherwise 3"+ puddle on my patio. Doesn't die, does it's job well.My only 2 minor complaints are as follows:- screwing on the hose takes more time than it should. I'm not sure if the threads are off or what it is, but it's just not easy. Works once on, though, and I've only had to do it a few times as I've moved the bucket and/or hose.- I think it would keep up with ultra-heavy rain better with a larger hose so I'm going to try that soon. Likely not the pumps fault to be clear. But we've had multiple days where it's rained HARD and the pump couldn't keep up at first, though again this may because of my hose diameter. But overall, this thing does its job amazingly well.-

We had backyard and patio flooding so we needed a pump that we could leave on all the time and unattended, that also could remove water down to a very low level. Most sump pumps are designed to work with higher levels of water that accumulate in a sump, so they don't work well on flooded patios and sidewalks. Although there are other pumps that remove water down to a very low level most don't have an auto on feature and can't be left to run dry, so they need lots of attention. This pump is perfect for our needs, it comes on automatically and removes water down to less than 1/2". So now when we have a big storm we can confidently sleep through the night rather than getting up every couple of hours to check the water level as we had to do with our old manually activated pump.

Nice compact unit. Switch works well to come on and pump out water to a low level and then switch off. Quiet when running. Just got it for spring melt so no long term reliability information. Light to carry and has a handle.Very pleased so far.

Excellent sump for emergency egress window well which flooded my basement. This pump has an automatic on-off activated by the presence of 1-1/2" water. Here are some installation tips:1. The dual plug arrangement alluded to in another review, now comes as two wires connected to a single plug.2. Although the right angle adapter to fit a garden hose included with the pump is attractive and simple, using a check valve is recommended to avoid back flow of the column of water in the hose; this can cause the pump to cycle on and off as the water flows back and triggers the pump to start again. I could not find a way to attach a check valve to the garden hose without a bit of adapting and additional fittings.3. The Universal check valve suggested in Amazon as a bundle requires additional fittings; instead, buy the $6.95 Everbilt Sump Pump Check Valve part #THD1021, available at Home Depot. This is 1-1/4" threaded to fit directly onto the sump pump without additional fittings.4. With hose clamps, you can attach the 24 foot Universal discharge hose kit directly to the 1-1/4" slip fit outflow end of the check valve. The hose clamps are included with the hose kit. This is the simplest arrangement allowing use of a check valve, without a lot of adapters/additional fittings.5. I dug a hole in the window well deep enough to place a 4" deep kitchen type plastic wash basin so the top edge of the basin was at the window well ground level. I set the sump pump into the basin after drilling multiple small holes in the side and bottom of the basin. This allows water to enter the basin and start the pump well before the water level reaches the ground level of the window well, which is about 4" below the window sill.
