Installed on a boat trailer. Did not use it to wench the boat on, drove the boat on and was just snugging it up good for travel a the bolt that the Handle mounts to just sheared off. Junk, do not recommend

I am using this on an old easy load trailer for a 16 foot aluminum boat. This winch was a great replacement for the old cable winch. It was easy to install and basically was a direct replacement fit. It works flawlessly and I love the strap. My only hesitation over time is how well the polyester strap will age with sun and salt water exposure. I expect it will last a very long time and I did note that replacement straps are widely available. Very happy with this for the price with its performance.

The hand winch was a couple bolt installation (not supplied) relatively simple. Not using it for a boat trailer but I did need a hoist to raise a pack up out of the way. At a good value, this winch is working out very adequately.Enough strap and capacity for a light duty hoist by going over a rafter beam, connection to the pack, then crank it up out of the way. Ratchet feely secure, locking into place while lifting. Release and hold open the ratchet mechanism to lower. I do need to control the handle lowering as it's in free spinning mode.

Overall this winch is great. I have it set up on a landscape trailer to assist in loading equipment. The strap seems to be very high quality along with the construction and finish of the base. My only complaints are with the handle design and the hook. The handle is statically connected to the gearing, so if you place it in the free-spin position and pull the strap out, the handle spins along with it which can be dangerous if anything gets in the way of it as it spins pretty quickly. I have used a similar winch that has a ratcheting handle design that I think could be incorporated into this one to make it more user friendly. The hook is also undersized compared to what you find on most winches with the opening being about 3/4". This is fine if you have one of the U-bolt style attachment points to hook onto, but not every boat does and you may find yourself needing extra hardware to pair this with your craft.
