This was released after the BD5 (narrower tip) . This MP was well made with clean lines and attention to detail. It has a lovely richness and "ping" when pushed. A safe choice for lovers of medium strength reeds.

So, I had been using a Vandoren M30 Lyre for the last 11 or 12 years. It was good for me when I started out but now it can't serve its purpose anymore. This BD4 has really opened up my sound as far as texture and color. My old mouthpiece was brighter than normal and too piercing in the upper clarion and altissimo registers. The BD4 completely changed that! It has so much warmth, darkness, and richness throughout the the entire range! My articulation on the M30 Lyre was really hard to get comfortable with and so hard not to squawk. With the slightly more open tip of the BD4, It has made articulating a whole lot easier and I don't have to "bite" (for a lack of better terms) as hard. This is worth the price if you need to change mouthpieces or upgrade to a new one! this is my experience and I hope it helps!

Dieses Mundstück macht mir viel Freude und es macht für mich einen deutlichen Unterschied in Ansprache und Klag gegenhüber einem zuvor gekauften 15 EUR No-Name Mundstück.Benutzt wird das Ganze an einer ca. 60 Jahre alten Bb Böhm Klarinette aus Paris (Noblet), die ich bei einer Gelegenheit sehr günstig erwarb und wieder restauriert habe.Zuerst dachte ich (als Anfänger), dass ich aus dieser uralten Klarinette nie wieder einen geraden Ton herausbringe, doch mit dem richtigen Mundstück, gängigen Klappen, gepflegtem Holz und geeigneten Blättern klappt es richtig gut!Ich verwende übrigens nach einigen Tests die Blätter Vandoren Rue Lepic 56, Stärke 3 dazu und eine flexible Ligatur aus Kunstleder mit Schraube (keine Metall-Ligatur).
