The toy is interesting and seemed like it would be fun, but the cats don't like it, not the reason I'm returning it or giving this review though.To charge the ball you have to really push the charging cable, that comes with it, hard into the charge port so it clicks in place.Sometimes you have to unplug and reconnect to get it to start charging.Once it's charged, getting it into the various modes is very clunky operation, especially the speeds.I had the ball set to the intelligent mode, which would go into idle and sit there until the cat wants to play with it. That does not work as described. It says it will lay there until the cat wants to play with it then it will wake up, which is not the case. You literally have to hit the power button to make it wake up.The slow mode, if I actually did get it into that mode, did not seem like it was any slower than any other speed.

It weaves in and out/ runs like a mouse and wags it's tail! Works on carpeting too! The ball charges very quickly and lights up in the dark for night time play, also.

Item works as described but the battery dies very quickly (about 5 mins after full charge) and it seemed to scare my cats because of the aggressive speed settings. This product would be much better if there was a slow setting. Even the "slow" setting it came with was fast and aggressive. It did a good job of not getting stuck places though

Powerful little motor. Works on carpet and hard surfaces. Survives going down the stairs.This is the second one purchased for our Siberian Forest cat. She loves to watch it and follows it around the house, but doesn't generally chase it. Definately works better on hard surfaces and short carpet. The movement is sporadic which I think cats are attracted to.I knocked off one star because the "smart" feature isn't functional. Regardless of the setting, once it shuts off after 5 min it doesn't start back up again with pushing the button. The previous unit (different brand) will reactivate whenever the kitty bats it.
