Great meter. I purchased this to get better data on current draw of my mini-split air conditioner and other household appliances. I needed this to properly size an inverter generator purchase, which I wanted because we live in a hurricane/tropical storm area. This was my second go at a clamp meter. The first was much cheaper but gave me readings that fluctuated wildly from on measurement to the next (e.g., 0.5A vs. 13A), and other readings that I knew could not be right (10A for a 100W light bulb). I returned it right away. The UNI-T had none of these issues. Readings were consistent from one measurement to the next, and also consistent with known values (i.e., 100 & 60W light bulbs). I also liked the MIN/MAX feature. I had a little trouble with the inrush current measurement, but I think that was because the 12000 BTU min-split A/C has a very "soft start" feature that very gradually increased current draw to the maximum over 10-15 minutes (this is a very good feature for my generator!).You should be aware that this meter is fairly large. I did have a little trouble fitting the clamp through the 1x opening on my line splitter, but it did fit if you held it at just the right angle. That is about the only caution I can think of. I highly recommend this meter.

Bought this one specifically to measure inrush and it does that well.

I'm no electrician, but a serious hobbyist who builds speakers and amplifiers, and can fix simple household appliances as well troubleshoot basic electrical problems. I got this clamp meter to figure out the current of household appliances, with the help of an AC line splitter, without having to spend too much for a Fluke. Some basic observations:1. Sturdy build, feels solid in the hand.2. The LED lamp to assist with dark areas is too dim, so it's worthless. A flashlight does a much better job.The display is difficult to see when lighting is dim. The back light function washes out the display completely when the screen is viewed from the top of the clamp meter.3. The non-contact voltage sensing (NCV) is very slow to react, taking at least 2 seconds before beeping and alerting about the presence of voltage. I prefer my pen size voltage tester to this NCV function.4. Voltage, AC and DC is quite accurate when compared to my other 2 DMMs.5. Current measurement, up to 1000A is great. A toaster oven consumes about 13 to 15A, but using an AC line splitter with a 10X loop will require a clamp meter that can measure up to 150A, so the UT207B is more than sufficient for these basic tasks.6. The leads that come with the clamp meter are mediocre at best. The meter is slow to the continuity test, but replacing the leads with better ones yield very impressive results. In conclusion, it's a good clamp meter for the hobbyists and folks who troubleshoot basic electrical issues.
