This quick release plate is a game-changer for my setup! The F38 system makes switching between tripods and gimbals incredibly smooth and effortless. The build quality is excellent—lightweight yet durable, with a solid locking mechanism that gives me full confidence in my gear. It saves me so much time during shoots, and I love how compact it is. Highly recommend for any photographer or videographer looking for a reliable quick-release solution!

Mounted it on my tripod and once locked in place is rock steady. Easy on/off setup. I really like the small size of the plate which is much less intrusive when shooting portrait.

I bought this quick release to attach my Sony a7iii to a Manfrotto tripod. I bought this after purchasing the baseplate for the Zhiyun Weebill S gimbal stabilizer. I was able to reliably and quickly detach the camera from the gimbal and baseplate and tripod during a wedding. I am not a professional videorapher but this gear made me feel like a pro.The second that attaches to the camera was sturdy and gripped the camera well so that my focus motor had no issues gripping the teeth on the 35mm SLR Magic microprime lens. I had issues with the original gimbal mount which was why I initially purchased this. The locking mechanism is a but tricky to engage and disengage but I left it unlocked and was never worried that the camera would slide off the rig unintentionally. With a quick press of the release, the camera would slide off easily without any struggle.I would definitely reccomend this purchase.

Three things to get out of the way before I get into my review:(1) The instructions are on the back of a paper sleeve that goes around the plastic case. Instructions *are* in both Chinese and English (though they're only a slight cut above Ikea-style wordless instructions).(2) The instructions omit the release button lock/unlock process: Pull out on the release button (it's spring-loaded), then a twist either way--small icons for locked (locked padlock) and unlocked (unlocked padlock) on the clamp body and an index line on the button show which position the button is in. You could leave it unlocked for convenience, but then you'd risk accidentally bumping the button and inadvertently releasing the equipment that's attached to the F38 mount plate.(3) The F38 mount plate works with my ARCA-compatible clamp mounts, but the F38 clamp mount will work ONLY with the F38 mount plate, as the quick-release system (the button) adds a sliding metal locking tab that's not ARCA-standard (it requires an extra cutout on the edge of the mount plate). Now for my thoughts on reasonable uses for this QR system:To start, I'd never put the F38 mount plate on one of my cameras, as the footprint is just too small be secure enough for anything that weighs more than a pound or has a long-ish lens, IMO.I *can* see, however, how a compact QR system like the F38 will be useful for some of my small accessories (phone tripod mount, Lume Cube, etc.) that I typically use with small or specialized mounts (e.g., my lightweight monopod, flexible-leg lightweight tripod, suction mount, and clamp mount--all shown in the photo), as it would allow me to easily swap specialty mounts on small accessories, while retaining the ability to mount those accessories on larger, ARCA-mount-equipped tripods (when needed). This will save me from having to move my one spare ARCA-mount clamp around to the monopod/tripod/mounts in order to attach my phone mount (it has a built-in ARCA base), let alone from having to screw in 1/4" mount screws into my Lume Cube (or to attach a bulkier ARCA mount plate to the the Lume Cube). For example, in the photo I've got the F38 mount plate on my phone tripod mount, with the F38 mount clamp on my lightweight monopod (or heavyweight selfie stick, if you prefer). My future intent is to get more of these F38 combos when they go on sale (I'd also put an F38 mount plate on my Lume Cube (also in the photo). That would give me 4 different specialty device mounts that I could use with the phone mount or Lume Cube that would require only a quick button twist/press to swap around. If I want to attach either the phone mount or the Lume Cube to my ARCA-equipped big tripod, I'd be ready for that, too (and yes, I've done that with the phone mount). As I think about this more, additional uses of the extra F38 mount plates that I would have may occur to me.Pros:* The F38 is smaller and lighter than a comparably-sized ARCA mount combo.* The one-button release mechanism is more compact and works faster (and may be more secure, in some ways) than a twist-knob clamping system on a comparably-sized ARCA mount combo. I have two of the latter, but they're definitely less convenient to work with and more bulky to pack than the F38 mount.Cons:* Probably not stable enough to use with even smaller mirrorless cameras, and definitely not DSLRs.* The 1/4" screw on the mount plate doesn't have a flip-up tab, and after-market screws with tabs have too thick of a top for this plate, so you'll need to use a screwdriver to attach the provided 1/4" screw to your device. At least the mount plate is ARCA-compatible, so you'll not need to remove and reattach the mount plate much, if ever.* For an accessories-based niche use, it may not bring sufficient value to a casual photographer.
