Heavy duty lens. It's a beast. But it's macro abilities are fantastic. Highly recommend if you're into macro photography. It works well with all my Sony e-mount cameras.

Impressive macro for the Sony E-Mount cameras.Construction is solid, and mostly metal (even the front cap) and it does have some weight, but not overly heavy.Focusing and aperture adjustments are all manual, but are smooth and stay locked in.Aperture ring is click type for accurate aperture ratings.Image quality is nice and sharp on al apertures that I have tried so far, and I'm excited to use this lens when spring comes. It's winter and there isn't much nature to shoot currently.Minimum focusing distance is also really good (nice and close) on this lens, and it also has a spot for attaching a light.Great lens at the price.

I have a pretty good-sized collection of vintage lenses, including a lot of macros. Personally I've never seen the need for autofocus or auto-anything on a macro lens, really.This is equally at home making photographs or for film/cinema purposes. It has high quality, modern lenses and coatings, but is still as solid, tactile, and fun to use as my vintage lenses.Really enjoying shooting with this so far, and it will no doubt continue to find uses on future projects.

I tested this macro full frame lens with my Sony A74 full frame camera and got some beautiful images, as you'll see for my photos. It's of course manual focusing so I used focus peaking on my display screen to get the best focus. I didn't have quite as much focus success with long distance items like I did with close-up macro images.The lens is built like a tank, constructed in a beautiful metal casing. It even comes in a beautiful first class box that you can use to store the lens.
