I have a soldering station that works well, but I keep choosing to use this handy iron instead of setting up the station. It heats up fast, stays hot until you turn it off and the different options for powering it makes it very flexible in different usage scenarios. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a portable, comfortable to use, effective soldering iron. Beginners and veterans alike.

I received this unit with firmware version 2.00. The unit would not heat correctly at 9 and 12 volts regardless if from a PD source or DC. At 12v after 2-minutes it was hardly above 200 C. I noticed a firmware update to V2.01 was available. Updated the firmware and now it appears to work correctly on lower voltages. When going to the website make sure you include the ".cn" after ".com" otherwise you will end up on some other company's website. Had a little trouble getting my laptop, with a USB-C connection to recognize the TS101 as a USB drive. That is required to copy over the ".hex" file from the pc to TS101. It eventually worked to update the firmware. You have to go to the fourm to find the firmware.

I solder mostly keyboard PCB components and keyboard switches. This little guy is great if you're on the go at keyboard conventions or making a sale in-person and something goes wrong. Bring a battery pack with you and you're ready for business. Keep in mind, your battery pack has to be able to output Qualcomm PD 3.0, at around 60W or so. I use an imuto 20,000 mAH external battery, and it works stock; no need for IronOS flashing. The included cable and stand is nice, but ultimately unnecessary. The cable itself is far too bulky compared to the actual size of the soldering iron, and the stand cannot keep the iron from rolling around. Actually, I find that just putting the plastic ring stand included in this kit does a far better job of keeping my iron from accidentally touching and burning things that it shouldn't than the stand. I've knocked over the iron a few times while on the actual stand.

This was a great purchase, heats up quick with the included plug and when using with a power delivery charger. Didn't have any problem with doing soldering jobs with it and it's a great size for carrying around in your kit.

This came with a power adapter that has a bit of a short cable (could buy a longer cord). I reflashed the firmware with Ralim's IronOS for the TS100. Now I can program it from the device and the temperature reads great! Love using the custom firmware features:Low Temp when idle, Sleep time to power off if you get busy! All of these with custom settings. Quite happy with this iron. I just did a 50 x 80 mm board with 0603, MSOP and SOIC parts and it was a breeze to use.I also appreciate that the case is NOT metal, as I soldered for hours, with the handle not heating up. Where, I have heard and seen reviews of the TS80 heating up on the housing because it is metal. The other nice advantage is the generic DC barrel connector that can be wired to a bench top power supply. Quite nice and impressed.Cannot be overstated, the custom third party IronOS firmware makes this iron a dream to work with. Also, easy to undo if a problem arises.
