I'd never paid attention to these until I re-watched an Australian show where they were using a bar like this to loosen soil quickly. I was excited to find out that they work just like they had on T.V.We're digging ditches and have no money to rent power tools. The first layer in our yard traditionally is the hardest to get through. This bar slices through it easy. My daughter and I actually had to take turns just because we liked doing it so much.I would not only recommend this tool to family and friends, if I had the money, I'd gift it to any gardener I love. I only use my shovel for moving dirt now. I don't use it to dig. I use this bar, even on roots.It is a bit heavier than your shovel and other garden tools. Imagine carrying a sledgehammer (not the small ones). That's the approximate weight, I think.Have fun with it. I sure do and will.

I needed a small digging bar and decided to purchase this one and a few others. Out of all of them these one is my favorite. It is well made a has a nice smooth finish and paint job. I mentioned this because the other digging bars I bought are heavier, bigger, and have a rough finish (the paint was chipped and rusty that I ended up repainting them). This bar is the perfect size and weight for what I needed (digging small post holes in tight spaces).

Nicely finished and precisely ground ends. The extreme sharpness of the point really helps penetrate rocky soil. The point also easily penetrates the shipping box so my first order had no bar because it slipped out. The second shipment box had four holes in it but the bar had not slipped out yet. Either Amazon or Truper should put a guard on the point. If this bar slipped out and hit your foot, it would do a lot of damage. To put something this sharp and heavy in a regular cardboard box is dangerous.

We needed to clear these logs out of the tracks; a perfect task for this digging bar!It was the perfect length to span the rails, prop up the log and cut rounds off the end.As we got closer to the trunk it got heavier and actually bowed the bar. I thought it was toast. I laid it along the rail after the stump was out of the way and it is perfectly flat still.Very impressive!
