Picked this up to to be able to move my existing repeater out into my barn (picking up signal from this extender). This extender is the perfect thing to get around having a thick brick wall between your router and whatever you are trying to get signal to though, which in my case is my garage addition. The unit and plug are built well, good size for a router or extender, and its really kind of a cool function that there is a workaround for thick walls besides drilling & hardwiring.Connectivity, speed, and signal strength seem to drop the further you go along the circuit unfortunately, so at the end of my circuit at the furthest end of the garage the extender works, but not quite well enough to do anything but replace my struggling repeater (it at least doubled my speed in the garage which is nice). Worth mentioning that the use of power tools in the garage interrupt the signal completely since they are on the same circuit, but the extender does reconnect pretty much instantly afterwards. So not perfect, but performance depends on your environment and electrical wiring, so its a good value if you aren't asking much and just don't want to run wires.

Was actually pretty excited to see this come up as an item for me to review for Vine. We've been having issues where, despite having VERY solid wifi throughout the home (just below gigabit speeds and solid ping), any game played over wifi lags like crazy. The only solution has been ethernet, but running ethernet around the home is ugly and a tripping hazard. We've been eyeballing a powerline solution for a while now but couldn't justify the cost.NOW, to be clear, this absolutely HAS worked. We've been able to use this to hardwire several devices. It can also be used for a mesh network, but there's really no need as our signal has always been great.HOWEVER, the speeds have been pretty abysmal. Like mentioned, our normal speeds even on wifi are just below 1gb. With this device, even with ethernet connection, the attached devices sometimes get as low as 50mbs and only as high as 150mbs.So if you were hoping to maintain your high speeds throughout your house, this likely won't provide that. I'm very aware that these types of solutions are highly dependant on how the home was wired, the age of the home/wiring, etc. However, the speeds we got are WAY below what we'd expect and what we'd like and what we're paying for (both for service and devices). So all in all, if you NEED this kind of solution, then it will work with caveats. If its not completely necessary, then I can't recommend at the current cost.

I'll be upfront—I’ve always been extremely skeptical of so-called "miracle solutions" that claim to push network traffic over your home’s electrical wiring. Over the years, I’ve tested (and tossed) powerline kits that cost four times what this one does, and not a single one lived up to the hype. So, when I got my hands on this product, I expected yet another disappointment.A little background: I’ve been a network engineer for over 25 years, leading teams, troubleshooting in data centers, and getting my hands dirty fixing aging infrastructure. I hold certifications from Microsoft, Cisco, Juniper, Fortigate, and more. Network design and troubleshooting are my bread and butter. Given that experience, it should come as no surprise that I’ve never recommended a powerline adapter before—because they simply don’t deliver on their promises. Sure, manufacturers boast about impressive speeds in controlled lab environments, but in real-world conditions, performance is almost always a letdown.Until now.I tested this kit in the absolute worst-case scenario: my garage. It's hot, humid, and wide open to the elements. Worse yet, my house was built in the late '60s, meaning the electrical wiring is noisy and far from ideal for this type of product. Electrical interference is the Achilles' heel of powerline networking, and even filters can sometimes do more harm than good. For my test setup, I plugged the smaller unit into an outlet in my home office and connected it via Ethernet to my managed switch. Then, I took the extender unit and plugged it into an ancient garage outlet. Two minutes later, I had sync and was pulling a rock-solid 110–119 Mb/s over Ethernet—something I never thought I’d see from a powerline adapter. Even more impressive, WiFi speeds were averaging in the high 300s.This is a first for me. I’ve never had a powerline kit work this well. And the best part? You can expand this system by adding more modules as needed, rather than having to purchase an entirely new kit.At this price, it’s an absolute steal. If you need reliable internet or network access in a spot with weak WiFi, this is hands down the best solution I’ve come across. YMMV

Astonishingly easy to set up. Works well enough for basic internet use.

I used this to boost my signal in the backyard for a wifi projector. While it did provide a stronger signal, it wasn't too much of a noticeable difference from what was already being provided by my other wifi routers in the house. Overall it did provide some benefit and increased signal strength, but not sure it was worth it.
