Recently expanded the network on a farm to reach all outbuildings and create a wifi/cctv network where there is no phone signal. Excellent devices. The first two purchased have been in place for 18 months wto tith no need to reset and have braved snow and the longest hot summer. Very happy with TP-Link range and would recommend the EAP / CPE range to small business, mid size offices and cafes without hesitation. Awesome value.

First our situation. We live in a rural area. We only have one internet service provider that is in our area. They only offer a 2Mb download speed, on a wireless modem. We are lucky if we can get 1Mb or more out of it. I own a business about 2.5 miles away. There we have cable modem with around 60Mb down load speed.I read a little about the using an antenna to do point to point wireless connection. So, after getting very frustrated with our home internet, I purchased two TP-LINK TL-ANT2424B antennas, two TP-LINK TL-WA7210N AP units, a few cables, and bits and bobs for mounting the antennas and grounding them.I was lucky in that I have a close line of site from my work top my house. I have a few power line and some trees a bit in the way. I cannot see the antenna from one place to the other with a monocular, but I can see the building.I installed the antenna and AP unit at the work building. Pointing to the house. I Set the AP unit to a static IP and entered the AP name and MAC address for the unit I was going to install at my house. The quick setup for the TL-WA7210N was very easy to use. I then set the unit of at my house. Again making sure it was pointing the best I could to the work building antenna, at least in the right direction. I entered the AP name and MAC address of the AP unit at work. I was very surprised and it connected right away. After a few tests I had great signal and great speed. I made a few adjustments to settings on the AP unit. I do not have the full 60Mb down load speeds, but it ranges greater then 35Mb up to over 50Mb. So, I am very happy.

I have now used four of these devices and am extremely happy with them. Impossible to beat for the price. My first purchase was for myself to provide wireless for a guest studio apartment on my property that is about 100 feet from my main house. Simply locating a router near the window to cover the studio apartment never worked very well. When I had guests staying in the studio they had patchy internet and a Roku hooked to a TV inside the studio would not work at all. So I mounted the TP-Link configured as an AP with a different SSID on an outside wall on my house. Problem solved. 100% reliable internet for phones, laptops and tablets inside the studio as well as the ability to use the Roku streaming HD from Netflix and Amazon. No stability problems. Then I offered to help friends to better distribute their wifi internet on a coffee farm in Hawaii. Again, I mounted one of the devices as an AP outside of the building. It now covered 3 other buildings approximately 100, 200, and 300 feet away from the TP-Link device. This worked well for the 100' and 300' buildings but was unsatisfactory for the 200' building. I assume that was the case because the problem building sits quite a bit below the main house and has a metal roof. Outside of the building the signal was fine but inside the signal was inadequate especially the upstream throughput. I ordered another TP-Link device and used it with an old router. The additional TP-Link was mounted outside the metal-roof building and configured in WISP mode as a client of the first TP-Link. The new TP-Link wired connection feeds the old router and the router is configured in bridge mode. The actual configuration for both the TP-Link and the router was a bit tricky. And they work in cascaded NAT mode which is something that gamers, for example, cannot tolerate. However, the configuration works fine at about 15/5 Mbits/sec inside the building and both Skype and Netflix did not seem to be bothered by the double NAT config.I have used a fourth device in someone else's very large house and grounds. It covered most of the property where previously 2-3 APs or more would have been needed. Most non-techy people who are not complete luddites can probably figure out how to add the TP-Link as an additional AP to their existing router to extend wifi range. The setup to use the device in WISP or bridge mode is likely beyond folks who aren't fairly familiar with networking. Even though I haven't tried it, I don't recommend using this or any other one radio devices as a repeater. Repeaters need to be 2 radio devices to work properly and relay to a different band. Also, in repeater mode the TP-Link device only allows WEP security which is inadequate encryption by today's standards.
