My wife and I in our, "let's travel the world while we can phase"; and love collecting things to make our journeys more comfortable and enjoyable (padded picnic blankets, portable speakers, and the occasional bit of sun protection)! This one is on the bigger end, yet comes with a convenient bag that makes packing away in a car a cinch. The setup isn't overly complicated, and if you've ever constructed a tent, this will likely be a breeze.•The material is thin, lightweight, and durable. Great for sweltering days on the sand (especially if you're a beach reader like I).•Setup may likely require two people, or one person with a lot of verve and tenacity. The tension rods and anchor process need two pairs of hands for a smooth experience, I find.•The bowed top is rather nice if you want to protect from the sun, whilst also getting. a bit of a breeze on the skin, when available! This is a straight-forward product. Nice UV protection (which is frequently discounted by many), ease of use, portability, and not-too-complex setup. I will say that this is a step-up from the standard umbrella/big towel setup, and a step beneath the bona fide beach tents (which themselves could do with a bit more ventilation). The material seems long-lasting and you get to minimize the amount of fine sand on and in your shorts by the end of the trip. Win-win, I think!

This canopy is very lightweight and it should be done by 2 persons to easily set it up. I did it by myself, but the wind made it really, really difficult. I spent almost an hour to set this up, and only used it for about 2 hours before I had to pack up and leave.Once I got the base anchored with the stakes as recommended, the wind would pull up the stakes. I eventually used things such as the cooler and my beach chair to keep the base in place while I started the assembly. The long fiberglass rods would not hold together as I inserted those into the sleeves because the wind made the canopy flap too much. I had to start over by taking the base off the stakes and gently forcing the canopy onto the rods in small gathers until I had the rods through both sides, then I stretched out the base again. It took some time to finally get the long rods into the grommets on the base because, once again, the wind was tossing the canopy around.I tried to keep the sides erect while inserting the center pole, but that proved too difficult with the wind. I found that using the support cords to hold the sides up before trying the center rod was the key to successfully getting the canopy set up properly. The center support rod will only stay in place by using the attached tie at the top of the canopy. This tie is made from the same material as the canopy, and could easily break. If the tie breaks, there is no way to keep the center support in place to hold the top at the correct bevel. The canopy would still be useable, but would sag at the top. This comes in a nice carrying bag which holds the canopy/base, the rods, and the stakes. Getting the tent to fold back into a shape to fit into the bag almost required a course in origami . The material is thin and will fold up if you just roll it tightly. While this is a fairly good size for me alone, I don’t think it would be large enough to have 2 chairs without a bit of discomfort. This is more stable than a beach umbrella, but it took a long time to set up and break down.

This small beach tent folds up really compactly and has a really nice zipper bag along with pouches for the poles and stakes. It all fits back inside well, which is a huge plus. some tents and things never fit back in quite right, this one DOES! I feel like the compact size and portability makes it more likely to get used in my family. If it is small, you just keep it in your trunk and don't have to worry about digging it out and bringing it along. Setting up is fiddly, it is shock-corded poles that get threaded through sleeves along the edges. I would give this five stars if it were clips rather than sleeves...but then it would probably be a higher price point. It does require the use of guy lines. I mean, it will stand on its own kind of, but a breeze or even sitting under it will cause it to shift around, so the included stakes and guy lines are pretty much required. It has mesh pockets integrated on one side, handy for sunscreen, glasses, etc. and the full floor is not only structural but also a nice feature to keep sand at bay. Be sure to check the measurements to manage expectations. The smaller of the two sizes available is 53" high. So you can sit with a beach chair, but most folks won't be able to stand up under it.
