I got this book for my husband WSET certified and he says it’s a very good source of informations diving deep into the chemistry and microbiology of the wine making process.

It’s a great book with tons of information of past and current research, not widely found elsewhere. It strikes a great balance between technical details and readability. My only gripe would be the lack of references of those scientific papers mentioned in the text. I understand it would be long, but for scientific rigorousness it should be included somewhere.

In the Third Edition, in Chapter One, in the "Domesticating Wild Grapevines" (page 19 on my edition) the book says:"...rare wild vines that had both male and female flowers (dioecious)... in their native state, the wild vines would have been either male or female (monoecious)."Dioecious species have male and female parts on different plants and monoecious plants have male and female parts on the same plant; seems as though they flipped the two words in the book.This should say "...rare wild vines that had both male and female flowers (monoecious)... in their native state, the wild vines would have been either male or female (dioecious)."

Jamie Goode makes the nerdiest bits of winemaking approachable. This is an indispensable book for those studying for higher wine credentials that really makes the technical aspects relatable for those of us who don't work in that part of the biz. I always rec'o this to folks!
