I bought this book because a lot of marvel comics coloring books exclude the X-Men altogether. I was surprised to see that this is one of very few x-men based coloring books that exist, so I decided to give it a try.I was disappointed as the title is the official x-men coloring book. However, it seems more like "The official X-men: The animated series coloring book." As most of the characters available to color are the same. Consisting of Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, Jean Grey and a few others that were prominent on the show. Unfortunately, that means that characters like, Nightcrawler, Psylocke, Colossus, Emma Frost, and Iceman take a back seat despite having many fans and remaining very popular to this day. Some of them are present on a few pages, but never by themselves like other characters and are in only 1 or 2 group pictures.The worst part by far, is that I've seen a surprising amount of duplicated pictures. They start out with a variety of pictures in the beginning of the book, but later on as you flip the pages you see the same exact pictures repeated. Now for a child, that might not seem like a big deal, as they would probably enjoy coloring the same picture twice if it was one of their favorites. However, for an adult, it seems like it would get very stale.I am glad that marvel has made this book, as they had neglected the x-men for quite some time before the disney and fox merger. But I returned the book, as I feel I would not have enjoyed it, considering all of the things they did wrong when making it.

My 7yr old loved it, my husband and I are huge fans of the comics and we loved looking through the art

This is an essential for all fans of the comics, especially die-hards of the 90's incarnation of the X-Men Animated series. The book has large-size pictures on quality paper texture with scenes inspired by both the comics and the cartoons. I enjoyed endless hours filling in the gaps. Best 'X-Men' related activity next to playing the arcade games
